Chapter Seventeen

Declan

Declan’s heartwas in his throat as he saw the indecision flash on Andi’s face before she grinned, the smile not quite meeting her eyes as she stepped aside. “Sure, no hassle. JJ wouldloveto dance with you.”

After his brief conversation with the actor, Declan now knew he was exactly what Andi had told him and not competition for Andi’s affections. JJ shook his head as he backed away, mumbling that the two of them were perfect for one another. Andi stood there staring at him then her face fell and she looked like she was about to bolt.

Declan swept forward, forcing Andi to wrap her arms around his neck, his hands pulling her to him the moment he slid them down her body and rested on the curve where her hip and her ass met.

Andi shivered at his touch and it gave him confidence, despite the fact that Declan had two left feet and didn’t have a clue what he was doing and he emphasized that by nearly trampling on Andi’s very expensive shoes.

“I’m not good at this.” He mumbled, pulling Andi flush against his body, almost groaning at how right this felt, having her in his arms finally, where he felt that she belonged if only he could convince her that they were meant to be together.

Andi tilted up her head and it was like being back with the girl who had stolen his heart, who say into his very soul and knew him once again.

“Just imagine we are in your mam’s kitchen at 2 am and I’m helping you practise for the dance. Just sway to the music, Declan. You know music, and dancing is just moving to music.”

He did as he was told, swaying instead of trying to dance like JJ could, and just held Andi to him, the breath almost leaving his lungs when she rested her head against his chest and when the song changed, she heard her sing softly along with the melody and he fell all over again.

“Your heart is racing.” His Andi remarked, lifting her head to look up at him and he tried to tell her with his expression exactly why.

“It’s because after all these years, you’re here in my arms and I don’t want to let you go. I made a stupid childish mistake and it cost me the chance to be with you.”

Andi sighed and dipped her eyes. “That’s all in the past.”

“It’s not for you, Andi, because I can see how much I hurt you. I said it, I admit that but I didn’t mean it. I was trying to play it cool in front of Rhys, because you were always so private and I didn’t want to tell your brother that I was in love with you before I told you.”

Stumbling back, Andi shook her head and when Declan went to take her in his arms again, she let him but couldn’t help the way her body stiffened. He wanted to tell her everything and this was his chance, his shot at redemption.

Declan trailed his hands down her back and rested them dangerously close to her spectacular ass in that dress and he almost punched the air when Andi bit down on her bottom lip.

“You don’t have to lie just to make me feel better, Declan...we can ...we can just be friends.”

“I don’t just want to be friends with you, Andi.” He heard himself growl, lowering his lips to her ear. “I want to spend hours learning all of you with my mouth, my hands, my tongue. I want to worship you like I should have done before I fucked it up. I want to spend lazy Sunday mornings with you naked in my bed, your smile and maybe those heels the only thing that you are wearing.”

Andi leaned back, pink flushing her cheeks as she frowned. “Stop.”

But Declan wasn’t prepared to stop. “I never could sleep in your house once I released that I wanted you, knowing you were lying in the bed just behind the wall. I fantasied about sneaking into your bedroom, waking you up with a kiss, and doing everything a horny teenager wanted to do with the girl who haunted his mind.”

Andi looked shocked by his admissions but then she surprised him by loosening her grip on the back of his neck and placing her palms against the column of his neck, heat in her eyes as she said. “I used to stroke myself to sleep, wishing you would come in and finish what I started. I swear my mind played tricks on me because there were nights when I had my fingers buried inside me that I felt you outside my room and I would orgasm so hard that I had to bite my lip to stop from screaming.”

Declan hissed out a breath, his cock hardening and he pulled Andi flush against him so she could feel just how affected he was by her. “I was but I never knew...if I’d known...I’d have...fuck Andi. I want inside of you so bad, wanted to devour you since I saw you walk in dressed in that dress and it’s driving me insane.”

He lowered his lips to graze the skin at her neck, and Andi buried her face in his chest to cover the sound of her moan and it made his cock throb. He flicked out his tongue, tasting her skin for the first time and it was like a revelation like he had found the perfect melody to go with the lyrics he had penned.

Andi’s hands slipped down from his neck to the expanse of his chest and he kissed her neck, teasing her, tempting her to follow through with this combustible chemistry between them, for him to take her back to his hotel room and not leave for days.

Then Andi placed her palms firmly on his chest and pushed him away gently, her eyes no longer heated but sad.

“Andi...” Declan started, reaching for her again. But Andi was shaking her head as if trying to clear her thoughts.

“No...this is...we can’t. This doesn’t change anything. My body might still want you but I can’t forget everything. Only a couple of weeks ago you tossed back at me that I was a ballbuster. I am. And you are a cocky rockstar who thinks he wants the one girl who he never could have.”

It broke his heart that he thought that was all between them.

It angered him as well that she would cheapen his feelings.

“Is that all you think this is? That I only want you because we never got together.”
