“What’s there to tell, Rudra? You think I can’t handle him?”

He bangs his fist on the table almost scaring the hell out of me. I have never seen Rudra this annoyed before.

“Don’t you effing tell me you’ve handled this. That man is loitering around our house to gawk at you, he is keeping an eye on your whereabouts, following you like a shadow and you tell me you have got this, Khushi?”

I swallow painfully, understanding his situation and try to explain.

“Rudra, you have no idea why he is doing this.”

Rudra strides to me and clutches my arms so hard, that it pains.

“You are not his wife, Khushi. Stop showing any mercy on him and if you can’t, I suggest you stop having any contact with him either. You won’t work on the AR Group from now.”

I am appalled by his outburst.

“Leave me.”

“Say you’ll do exactly as I just said first.”

The nerve of this man!!

“You are hurting me, Rudra,” I scold him with all my strength.

“Say it.” He continues to nudge me, and I finally push him away and take a step back.

“I won’t,” I shout.

Rudra stares at me in disbelief.

“I know what I am doing.Ibrought up the prospect of turning our eye on AR Group.Ihave worked on this from past so many months and I won’t give up my work only because you are getting possessive. Did you hear me, Rudra?”

His jaw clenches.

“And never touch me like that again. Show some respect to a woman when she asks you not to cross your limits.”

I grab my phone, stride to the door and slam it shut behind me. I understand that any man in Rudra's position would be enraged to learn that another man is showing such a strong interest in his girlfriend, but I would have preferred if he had spoken to me instead of imposing his decisions which affects my profession. All the hard work I have done so far won’t go in vain because of Rudra’s jealousy. If there is anyone who could beat the AR Group that would be me because I am too good at handling such tricky competitors.

CHAPTER 8

Aarav

Nothing interests me here at this noisy pub where Aman has forced me to accompany him for a drink. But for some reason, I think he has another agenda too.

“You still didn’t tell me what Rudra Singh was doing at our office today?”

Aman is my shadow. No matter how much I avoid keeping secrets from him, I can’t.

“I would tell you that if you tell me why we are here?”

I take another swig of my drink before checking my phone which I have done for the umpteenth time ever since my last call with Akash. Any information from him on Khushi is going to decide if I’m right at my stand that she could be my Jhanvi.

“I asked you the question first,” Aman retorts. “And I’ve a very good reason to bring you here, don’t worry. So, start talking, Aarav Raichand.”

Fine. I set my glass down.

“Rudra came to warn me to stay away from Khushi.”

Aman shakes his head in agreement.
