“You can call me Aman.”

I shrug.

“Okay, Aman then. Should we begin the meeting?”

“Absolutely.”

This meeting was scheduled by AR Group all of a sudden and on priority after last night’s party and Rudra and I had no clue what the agenda was. Now that Aman Mathur is here, I can’t wait to know. But as we speak, which is for about 20 minutes, I realize Aman is highlighting the ways we have tried giving competition, both fairly and unfairly to AR Group in the last few months and obviously he is not happy revising them to me.

“Aman, what is your point?” I interrupt.

“The point is, Miss Thakur, that we know what your intentions towards AR Group are.”

“Really?” I lean back on my chair, smirking. “And what are our intentions?”

“To takeover AR Group or to snatch our existing clients and businesses from us.”

“Hmm,” I agree. “That’s exactly what we want.”

Aman gives me a hard look.

“I appreciate you didn’t hide it, Miss Thakur. So, I am here to tell you and your CEO just one thing. Stop eyeing on AR Group, you won’t like the consequences of it if you do.”

I laugh.

“You are threatening me, Aman. But it won’t work. This is a business fight, a kind of survival of the fittest and we won’t let AR Group be at the top for long. But I promise, we won’t go any unethical way, we never have. But remember one thing. Your one mistake could be our biggest victory so I suggest you and your CEO Aarav Raichand, focus on handling your company rather than poking your noses in our Business. And one last thing.”

I get up from my chair after Aman does the same.

“Tell Aarav Raichand, next time I find his car tailing me, I am going to officially file a complaint against him.”

Aman clenches his jaw but then he smiles and I wonder why?

“I didn’t tell you a joke, Aman,” I snap.

“No, you didn’t,” he nods. “But Aarav is not new to such threats. So, I am wondering what would he do this time to make sure your company falls so bad that you and Rudra Singh would pack up forever from India and fly back to where you've been all these years. Go scare off the companies there, you can’t sustain here, Miss Thakur.”

I fist my fingers. The audacity of this man baffles me.

“Get out.”

“With pleasure.” He winks before heading to the door.

What the hell was that?

CHAPTER 4

Aarav

It’s been a while since I stepped into my office. The last time I was here two months ago was to sign a few cheques. It feels good to be back but the very thought of a woman who has Jhanvi’s face, her features, height, personality and is very much around me in the same city is making me lose my focus again. I couldn’t sleep last night even when I had my daughter Aarvi sleeping next to me. A hope has suddenly bloomed in my life that she could be my Jhanvi. I know they say she is not her, that she’s a different identity and I’ve to stop thinking about her, but why is my heart unable to accept that fact? Ever since I’ve met her yesterday, there hasn’t been a single moment I haven’t thought about her. I have tried examining every little detail which could prove that Khushi Thakur is my wife Jhanvi but there has been no such luck. Today morning, though Aman and Mohit had warned me not to do anything stupid, I still followed Khushi to her office. She was too clever to detect someone was tailing her and even took a picture of my car number plate. I know soon she is going to come here storming for my errant behavior.

The door of my cabin opens and Aman barges in. He looks mad. I remember he had been to RS Group to warn them that we knew their intentions.

“What the F*ck is wrong with you, Aarav? You followed Khushi Thakur today morning?”

I am startled he got to know that.

“Good afternoon, Aman. Take a seat.” I gesture him to sit but he is too annoyed to do so at the moment.
