“I’m not a doctor, but don’t think that’s supposed to happen,” Saint states.

“Well, we don’t have the greatest history,” I admit as I watch Saint and Elle exchange a glance. I turn to Elle. “You seriously told him?”

“I might have been worried about you last race. I just wanted to see if he’d noticed any changes. I need to make sure your mind is clear. Look how far you’ve come since ditching the sorry asshole,” she snaps.

“Not your business to discuss,” I warn her before looking at Saint. “I’m sorry about that. She doesn’t know when to keep things quiet.”

“I’m happy she told me. I’ve had a bad feeling about him since he arrived in the shop, so I’m glad my hunches are half right,” he boasts. “Coffee?”

I swat his arm and smile—a true smile. “Light and sweet,” I reply. Saint smiles as Elle and I take a seat at one of the tables.

“I really like him. I knew we could trust him, Hais,” she reveals.

“It’s fine. Just wish you would have mentioned it, so I didn’t get blindsided by it,” I chastise.

“Next time I will,” she whispers as Saint arrives back with our coffees.

“So, Elle, I invited you and Haisley here to my house for a little party Monday since we have the day off and it’s Memorial Day,” he tells her. “But Haisley hasn’t officially accepted the invite.”

“What?” Elle exclaims. “How dare she not?” She bursts out into a laugh.

“I take it that’s a yes,” Saint inquires.

“Absolutely,” Elle replies staring a hole into my head.

Saturday – The day before the race

“Let’s go. We have to be in the media area in twenty minutes for your promotional thing with Zander,” Elle screams at me from her bedroom in our suite.

“I’m almost ready to go,” I yell back. “Just finishing my makeup.” I place my hair into an up-do for the media day. Apparently, Zander is racing in the 500 tomorrow, which I’ve known for the last week or so. He ended up practicing yesterday with the rest of us and, being he is the Prince of Indy, qualified separately.

“Why are they making so much of a stink about these promotional pieces with the two of us,” I question as I grab my small bag from the couch.

“Because he is who he is, and because you are the talk of the town this season. There hasn’t been any female able to break into the INDY circuit since Danica. So, be happy and suck it up. We need sponsorship to continue next season,” she insists as I open the door to the suite.

“Fine, but God, he’s so arrogant,” I sigh.

“Just like his father,” she quips back. “Didn’t his mother call Colton, ACE in the beginning of their relationship?”

“I heard a rumor or two about that,” I laugh and shrug my shoulders.

“Either way, it’s good publicity, so just fake your smile if you need to, otherwise just focus on your part and have fun,” she instructs as we take the elevator to the floor with all the conference rooms.

“Fine. I’ll behave,” I acquiesce.

A knock on the door draws me from the television. Media was insane today, and I feel like I ran a half marathon in heels.

I open the door to find Saint and Mac standing on the other side. “Hey, what’s going on? Something bad happen?” I question as I motion for them to come in.

“No, nothing like that. We were just headed to Big Woods Bar and wanted to see if you two would to join us,” Saint asks. I look over to Elle.

“Come on, it’ll be fun,” Mac adds.

“Elle, what do you think?” I question.
