“Yeah. He wasn’t invited. One of the other neighbors let him know about my dad’s funeral. It really rattled me, and I thought I should check in with her.”

“Motherfucker.” His blood boiled with anger over what that monster had done to her.

“It’s over, Finn. Getting angry doesn’t help. I spent a lot of years angry. Look,” she said with a sigh, “I’m really tired. I’ll take a shower and go to bed.”

“No,” he said, taking her hand and giving it a kiss. “I want to take care of you.”

The look she gave him through her lashes hit him square in the chest. He could only see trust in her blue eyes. That was a precious gift from someone who’d been violated by a sexual predator. “We’re taking a bath together.”

“Your bathroom doesn’t have a tub.”

After putting Alfie in his crate, Finn guided her to his mom’s bathroom. “My mom has a huge tub. Here,” he said, putting the seat down on the toilet, sitting her down, and turning on the tap. He fiddled with the knobs to get the temperature right.

“Come here,” he said, helping her to her feet.

She wrapped her hands behind his neck and leaned her head against his chest.

Finn rubbed her back in slow circles. “I’m glad you told me.” He reflected with regret how he insisted she suck him off and the time he slapped her ass. Colleen deserved to be respected and he would have to knock that shit off. “If I ever say or do anything that frightens you, I want you to tell me.”

“I know what you’re thinking.” Colleen pulled away from him, searching his eyes. “A little spank on the ass is not abuse.” She added with a shy smile, “Besides, I kind of like bossy Finn.”

“Bossy?” he asked with a surprised chuckle. “Just the same, I want you to let me know how you feel.”

“I will, but I trust you. Now take my clothes off.” Her lips curled into a smile.

Without a word, Finn undressed Colleen with care. Unbuttoning her shirt, he pressed his lips to her shoulder, then slid the shirt off and tossed it aside. He got to his knees and slowly unzipped her jeans.

Gazing down at him, Colleen ran her fingers through his hair.

Finn pulled her jeans down her legs and she stepped out of them. Standing, he kissed her while unfastening her bra and sliding it off her arms. Her breathing had quickened, and he placed a gentle kiss on the nape of her neck.

“Finn,” Colleen whispered, unbuttoning his shirt, and tugging it off.

He stripped off the rest of his clothes while Colleen’s leisurely scrutiny took in every inch of his body. His pulse quickened. No other woman had ever had this effect on him. He wanted every inch of her, but he would have to be patient.

He hooked his fingers under the edge of her panties, kneeling to slide them off her legs.

She kept her eyes on him as he placed a gentle kiss on her belly.

The complete trust in her eyes humbled him. He stood and took her in his arms. He desperately wanted to be worthy of her.

Colleen knotted her hair up and stepped into the tub. “Come on in,” she said, settling herself.

Finn followed behind her and pulled her against his chest. For long minutes, he savored having her safe and warm next to his body, running his hands up and down her arms. When her muscles relaxed, he put some body wash on his hands and washed her breasts. His fingers slid over her nipples and enjoyed watching them extend. He knew his dick had better calm down though, because this was about Colleen.

She took his hand, guiding it to her thigh. “Touch me.”

Finn’s hands caressed her soft thighs, traveling up to the folds of her pussy. Colleen let out a contented sigh, undulating her hips. His fingers froze because he couldn’t put the image of that child molester out of his mind. He was repulsed by what happened to her. She was only a child, for fuck’s sake.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“I need some time. I said I would take care of you, and I will.” He continued to wash her until every part of her was scrubbed. “I want to make it go away, all the pain, all the bad memories.”

“Finn,” she said, rolling over. “I appreciate what you say, I really do, but that’s what therapy is for. I spent years doing the work. My dad’s death, the funeral, and seeing you again was stressful. But running into Dan Pike was unexpected and tonight’s thunderstorm was a trigger. But I made it through. I feel strong.” She lifted her eyes to his. “I feel cared for. That’s all I need right now.”

After he dried her off, Finn dressed Colleen in one of his T-shirts and held her in his arms until she fell asleep.

Finn slept for a few hours, but he was restless. He was still troubled by Colleen’s story and impressed with her strength. She trusted him, and he wanted to learn how to help her. Kissing her cheek, he got out of bed as carefully as he could and left the bedroom.
