"You're leaving?” a hopeful Jonathan asked from across the way.

"Do you mind? "Vivian spun and glared at him.

"Hey. It's not like I cangoanywhere.”

She bit her tongue, partially because that was true, and turned back to Cam, who looked far too amused.

"What?"

"Right. So." Cam cleared his throat. "I am going to Scotland—”

"Yes." Jonathan all but did a fist pump.

"—but not until the sleigh is done and I've wrapped up some stuff."

"And this just magically happened today?" She crossed her arms instead of reaching through the bar to smack him upside the head.

“Magic!” Cam said with a big grin and all but wiggled jazz hands.

You know, maybe prison was the right place for him. She’d just let Skye know to keep him.

“Camden.”

“Yeah,Camden.”Jonathan snorted.

Vivian turned, needing to take her ire out on someone. “How long do you think Skye could forget you were in here if no one asked where you were?”

The look of terror Jonathan shot past her to Cam was very telling.

“As I was saying…”She turned around to deal with her primary jackass. The one who was thinking of leaving her again. “You woke up this morning and just suddenly wanted to work in Scotland?”

“You know, notsuddenly. But after some emails, yes. That’s what has happened. And…” He lowered his voice and stepped as close to her as he could get with those bars. “You don’t need to do this. It’s always been on my bucket list. And I’m sure, the timing is… good. But, yeah.”

He ended with a head nod, and she wanted to smack him again.

“When were you going to tell me?”

Cam gave her a frustrated glare. “If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a little busy since this morning, arguing with Certain People and getting locked up, but it was totally on the agenda for after I took down Insurance Red Tie Guy later.”

“Camden.”

“Vivian.”

She stepped away, paced the twelve steps to the end of the little hall and back.

“You were just going to leave.” Even as she said it, she heard an echo of his words just a few days ago. That she’d just left.

And she layered that over the fact hehadtried to stop it. He and his parents were going to go so far as to open their home to her—and her baby.

She stepped back in front of him and wrapped a hand around one of the bars.

“I don’t want you to go.”

“I do,” Jonathan grumbled behind her.

“Hey, I was not kidding about that thing before. I was thinking Skye needs a weekend off. Girls’ trip to Bangor maybe?” She pointed at him. “Do not make me take you down and keep you in here.”

She turned back around to find Cam smiling at her broadly. He opened his mouth, then shut it quickly, wiping the look from his face.
