Losing Trigger.

Getting stabbed.

Watching my dog get gutted in front of me.

My jaw clenched, bile burning my throat at what I would do once I got my hands on the bastard who killed my boy.

I was a little surprised that Greyson didn’t stick his guys on me, so they could watch every single one of my moves.

The burner phone suddenly rang, startling me. Flipping it open, I brought it up to my ear.

“There are cameras everywhere. So I suggest being a good little boy and keeping your dick in your pants.”

I frowned at the deep voice coming from the other end of the phone. “Catch?”

“The one and only. I know you were wondering why you don’t always have one of us with you. Cameras, Tanner. There are cameras every-fucking-where.”

My eyes scanned the room.

“You won’t see them.” Catch chuckled. “But we’ll see you. You know, I’m not a fan of action movies but this is kind of fun.”

“This isn’t a movie, Catch,” I mumbled, leaning back against the couch and pinching the bridge of my nose. Someone needed to get out more.

“Nope. It’s not. Remember what I said. And remember what Greyson told you. There are rules and if you need our help like you say you do; youwillfollow them.”

My jaw clenched.

I had never been one to ask for help, but I knew that this time, I needed it. Desperately. But when Greyson never asked for something in return, it made me uneasy. He would collect payment. They always did.

I just didn’t know when.

Bee

WITH THE MUSIC FLOWINGthrough me, I moved my head in tune with the fast, loud beat. Corey Taylor screamed at me while he sang the words of “Dead Memories.” It wasn’t Slipknot’s heaviest song, but it was one of my favorites.

While I put some food together for Tanner, I moved my hips to the beat of the music. It had been about a week since Uncle Greyson let him start staying at the clubhouse. I hadn’t seen much of him and we definitely hadn’t almost kissed again since the first time. He had probably just been high on meds and was itching for something. I wasn’t sure what or if I was even right but there was no way that Tanner could want me.

He had followed Uncle Greyson’s rules and stayed in the basement. I had gone down to the den to watch movies with Uncle Catch and Aunt Sara, but Tanner had never come out of his room. It had been distracting. I couldn’t for the life of me remember what movies I had been watching either.

I just wished I could have found the time to sneak off to go see Tanner. I knew Uncle Greyson had one of the prospects bring him food, but I was sure it wasn’t the same. They probably just placed the tray on the floor and left. But I actually wanted to talk to him. I wanted to get to know him. Not to change him from the man people were apparently scared of but to find out why they were scared. I wanted him to know that not everyone looked at him like a monster, but a man instead.

“Really, Johnny?”

I jumped, spun around, and saw Cyrus, Uncle Greyson, and a couple of other guys filing into the kitchen. “You need to warn a girl when you’re sneaking up on them,” I said, turning off the music on my phone. “Why are you guys up so early anyway?”

“Couldn’t sleep,” Cyrus mumbled, sitting at the large kitchen table. “Sammy came home during the night drunk as hell.” He scowled, scrubbing a hand down his face. “It was a shitshow.”

“I heard him talking about some chick named Red,” one of the newest members, Frankie, said. He rubbed his strong jaw. “Makes me want to meet her if she’s gotten Sam’s panties in a bunch.”

Rounds of laughter erupted through the kitchen.

“It’s not like you to be up before my wife.” Uncle Greyson poured himself a cup of coffee, ignoring the guys. “Hungry?” he asked, nodding toward the plate of food I was preparing for Tanner.

“Oh. Uh…” My cheeks burned. “I was going to bring food—”

“Got it.” Uncle Greyson took his mug and cupped my shoulder before leaning down to my ear. “Not everyone knows he’s here. Especially not your father. Let’s keep it that way for a little bit longer.”

I nodded.
