"Father paid good money to make sure no one ever hears what happens in that house," Amy said.

Her brown eyes looked so much like Porter’s, especially with the haunted shine to them. The horrors the human had been subject to, no doubt, were trying to make themselves present in her mind.

Amy shook her head. "We better hurry."

Foi nodded and jumped all the way down and tugged Amy along until they made it to the sleek black car. She got into the passenger seat and Foi behind the wheel. If Jaygen saw him get into his car naked and covered in blood and dirt, he'd get his ass chewed out.

Better fucking live, damn cat.

Foi took to the street and drove like a bat out of hell until he merged on the highway. But even then, as he blended into traffic, he didn't let out the pent-up air locked in his chest.

The sound of ripping fabric resonated around him and Foi glanced over to see Amy wrapping her arm. He leaned over and opened the glove compartment. "Rinse it with the bottle of water and then use that topical cream in the jar." Jaygen had packed for every occasion.

Foi didn't even look to see if she was listening to him. His gaze fell on the two men in the back seat. Cyrus was still out cold, and Ozni sat there staring down at him, somewhat lost.

"Oz?" Foi asked.

"He is alive, I know that," Oz said. His dark eyes held Foi's for a brief second, and he saw the raw determination and anger in them. It mirrored his own.

Foi nodded. No words needed to pass between them; the night had been a major fuck, but it was far from over. They'd gone in with a solid plan and by all accounts, it should have worked, but life wasn't always that easy. No matter how meticulous Jaygen had been over the plan and no matter how many times they'd recited it step by step, life tossed in a monkey wrench and shook them about. Effectively fucking it all up.

Foi wasn’t going to lose his pack again. He swore it to himself when he'd come back to reality all those years ago. Now that he had one again, he'd kill for every single one of them. He'd cry for them, bleed for them, and risk his life for them. They were going back for Jaygen and taking back their stubborn tiger shifter at all costs.

"I'm scared."

Arden poured a cup of tea and passed it to Porter. He'd quickly realized he preferred tea over the coffee that had been shoved down his throat his entire life. Coffee was more manly and strong or at least that was how his father acted. But Porter was ready to enjoy the things he wanted to enjoy whether they were manly or not.

He picked up the cup of black tea and sipped at it before he poured milk and sugar in it. Once it was a light brown, he went back to drinking it. Arden sat across from him, his eyes full of concern and his lips pressed into a straight line.

"I'm sure everything is fine," Arden said, having a cup of coffee himself. "If something was wrong they would call us."

"Would they?" Porter asked, his frown deepening. "I tried to call all of them and no one picked up. By now we should have heard something, right?" Porter shook his head when Arden shrugged. "If anything happens to them, this is all my fault. What the fuck was I thinking sending them there? I should have gone."

"You're only human, Porter. What would you have done?"

Porter looked up at Arden, fire blazing in his eyes. "I keep telling all of you not to underestimate me. I know I'm not as amazing as the rest of you, but I'm not helpless either."

"I never said you were helpless," Arden said calmly. "Breathe. You're worried about your... What do I call them now?"

The steam escaped Porter's body and he shook his head. "I have no idea," he muttered. "All I know is I want them back here in one piece. I never should have sent them there." He thought about Amy and he remembered why he'd asked for their help in the first place. "But Amy, I can't live without her."

"I know," Arden said. "Trust them, okay? They're going to be fine. You'd be surprised how good those four are at what they do."

"They're hosts."

Arden smiled softly. "They're so much more than that, Porter. Trust me, they know what they're doing."

"Arden!" Foi gasped as he stumbled into the kitchen, panting and trembling. "Jaygen is-"

Porter jumped up and ran over to him. "Foi! What the hell happened to you?"

"I'm fine," he brushed Porter off as blood dripped down his body and stained the kitchen floor. "Arden, we need your help. Jaygen threw himself at the guards to get us out of the house, but we couldn't get to him. He's still here."

Porter's heart dropped. Jaygen was still there.Father has him.Bile rose in Porter's throat and he ran over to the trash can before he vomited up the tea and bit of dinner that Arden had convinced him to eat.

No, no, no! Jaygen couldn't be there, in that horrible place on his own.He threw a hand over his mouth holding back the anguished scream that threatened to tear free. This was his fault. He had sent the men he loved into the belly of the beast and Jaygen might never return. A hand touched his arm and he pulled away sharply, his fist tightening, ready to attack as he was transported back to that cold and terrible place.

"It's okay," Amy whispered as she cradled his cheeks. "Don't worry Porter. We're going to get him back, okay? I promise."
