Micha bit his lip but knew he needed to respond, or Spooky might end up hating him, and he wanted to stave off that reality as long as possible. "It's not like that." But it was. Micha swallowed, and it felt as if he was trying to gulp down a rock lodged in his throat. No matter how he tried to clear it, nothing happened.

"Okay," Spooky said. He got up and moved in front of Micha, and he got close, his brown eyes shimmering with determination. "I like you, Micha, and I want to trust you, but this isn't exactly a good sign."

Micha lowered his eyes and his wings drooped. "I'm sorry."

Spooky cupped his face forcing Micha to look him in the eyes. "Don't be sorry. Just be honest."

He wanted to. Micha wanted nothing more than to spill the truth. "I…" Micha's heart thrashed against his ribs. "I should talk to Arden first."

Spooky seemed to relax a bit at Micha's words. "As long as you tell him. Whatever it is, I'm sure he will help you out."

Micha nodded, but his stomach dropped. He knew that wouldn't happen, and Arden would more than likely kill him before helping him.

"Alright, good; then we should join the others downstairs, or we could have our own fun," Spooky suggested. He licked his lips, and Micha was instantly hit with heat as his body reacted, and the memories of Spooky touching him filled his mind.

"Okay," Micha said.

Spooky grinned as he pulled Micha closer. "Okay, which one?"

Why was he going to force Micha to say it? He knew his face had to be stark red with his embarrassment. He had no idea why he was reacting to Spooky’s advances when he knew he needed to create distance between them.

"Uh you," Micha forced out.

Spooky smirked at him and intertwined their fingers together. "Just what I wanted to hear."

"Are you going to tell Arden?" Micha finally whispered out.

Spooky glanced over his shoulder as he pulled Micha into Arden's room. The familiar shook his head. "It’s for you to do. And I don't have anything to tell him." Spooky shrugged.

Spooky pulled Micha close to him and brought his mouth to Micha's neck. A hot wet tongue ran up the length of his throat, making him squirm.

"I see the way you hold onto Arden. I know you would never betray him or us."

Tears stung the back of his eyes as Micha's heart broke. He knew the day they found out the truth and Micha was forced to walk away from them would be the day he finally shattered into pieces leaving nothing of himself behind. He'd truly be free.

And broken.

Micha pulled Spooky closer and let his wings wrap around them, blocking out the soft light in Arden's room. Hiding them away.

"Who’s us?" Micha asked.

Spooky laughed. "Well currently it's me, Gamble, you, and I'm pretty sure Eldon. I've caught his scent on Arden a few times and on the sheets. Well once, but it didn't smell like sex back then.” Spooky tapped his finger on his chin. "I have a feeling about Bash too. The tension between him and Arden is off the richter scales."

Micha leaned back slightly, making sure not to break the small bubble he created with his feathers. "Really?"

Spooky nodded, studying Micha. "What do you think of the bear shifter?"

Micha's face warmed even more. "I.. He’s nice and gentle. I can tell he’s trying hard. Not to mention when he smiles it's really nice."

"So you like him too?" Spooky asked.

Micha shut his mouth. He needed to say no, he didn't have the right to like him, but that meant nothing to his heart.

Spooky chuckled. "Okay, so Bash for sure. I mean, heishot, and I have the distinct feeling he wouldn't mind throwing me against a wall, table, car, bar, fuck, he might even do it over Arden's desk just to spite him. Damn, that's hot." A dreamy look came over Spooky's face, and Micha couldn't help but laugh.

"How can you be okay with this?"

Spooky's cat ears twitched. "What do you mean?"
