She took a deep breath and nodded. “Where’s Alora?”

“She went to check on Nick.” She stood up and kissed my forehead. “I’ll go see him too, give you guys a minute to talk.” She walked out.

“What the hell happened?” Arturo asked.

I filled him in about being run off the road. Taken to the warehouse and everything else. “That Michael guy was convinced I was Wrath. Said I planted the blood, that the murders over the last week were in whatever city I was in at the time.” I sighed. “What if someone is setting me up?”

“Who? I would say maybe Gabriele, but not after they snatched you up. And Michael may have just used that as an excuse to get you out of the way if he has a history with Alora.”

“Do we know if he is still alive?”

He shook his head. “Not much is coming out of Alboreville. No one has left the house since Gabriele got back after this all went down. People have come in, but no one has left.”

I nodded. “Everyone's scrambling. Preparing, Gianni is right. We’re on the brink of an all-out war with the families. Do we know what Vigo’s doing right now?”

He shook his head. “No idea. But I am going to take advantage of the chaos, and see what I can find. This might be our chance to find her.”

“And I am stuck in a damn hospital bed.”

“Where you are going to stay? The last thing we need is you doing something and injuring yourself worse. You get better. I am going to need you.”

I nodded, holding my hand out to him. “La famiglia è tutto.”

He grabbed my hand. “La famiglia è tutto.”

Alora walked back in with Mom. I looked at her and smiled, just once I wanted to see her smile back at me. She turned and walked over to Arturo pulling him into a hug. I sighed; she was more comfortable with him than she was with me. His phone rang, he stood up and walked off.

“How’s Nick?” I asked.

“As good as he can be. He’ll be going home tomorrow.” Mom answered.

“Good.”

Arturo hung up the phone and walked back over. “Gabriele is alive, he left the house two hours ago. He is moving his girls right now, and Gianni’s contacts said they saw Elena.”

Alora’s eyes went wide. “What? Where?”

“Intel says they’re moving them overseas, if we want to intercept, we have to go now.”

“Go!” Alora looked at me. “What are you waiting for? You guys go now.”

“I’ll stay with Luka, go.” Mom stated.

Alora ran over and pulled her into a hug. “I will call you as soon as I can.”

Arturo walked over. “As soon as I know anything I’ll call.”

I grabbed his hand and pulled him down to me, whispering in his ear. “Please keep her safe.”

He looked at me and nodded. Turning to walk away, Alora next to him. “Will you guys give us a second please?”

Mom smiled and stood up, putting her arm behind Arturo’s as they walked out together.

“Come here.”

“Luka we really should go,”

“Just come here,” I ordered.
