Wepulledupto the restaurant and Luka climbed out, offering me his hand. “I’m a big girl. I can get out of a vehicle without assistance.” I opened my door and climbed out, making my way around the car.

We walked into the restaurant, Nick, and Michael on our heels. Of course dad would assign Michael, who I was trying to avoid. He had pulled me to him so hard before we left, that my arm was still throbbing. Luckily the sleeve of my dress covered it because I am sure it was red.

A pretty blond girl looked up and smiled as we walked in. “Welcome, can I help you?”

“Yes, we are meeting Mr. Agusti.”

“Oh yes, right this way.” We followed her to the back corner of the fancy restaurant. I noticed a couple of other families were there. This restaurant was owned by Vigo, and he had a rule at his establishment that things between the families stay cordial. A couple of them gave us a nod as we passed.

“Mr. Agusti will be right with you.” She smiled.

“Thank you,” Luka replied.

She looked up at him with a smile, placing her hand on his arm. “You are so welcome.” She turned and walked back through the restaurant. I rolled my eyes and scooted into the booth on the right side. It was a big round table, the booth going all the way around.

He laughed. “Can we sit on this side?” Luka asked, gesturing to the left.

“Why?”

“So I will be in a position where I can see both the front and back entrances.” He reached down offering me his hand.

I glanced around the room, Nick and Michael sat at a table just a couple away. I stood up, scooting in on the other side. He scooted in next to me. “What was funny?”

He smirked. “Nothing.”

A pretty dark-haired waitress walked up. “Good evening, can I get you something to drink?”

“Water please,” I replied.

“Whiskey neat,” Luka nodded.

“Make that two Carla,” Vigo said as he walked up. “And just bring up the family dinner honey.”

“Yes sir." She replied and walked off.

Luka stood up and held out his hand. “Mr. Agusti.”

“Luka, please just call me Vigo.”

Luka nodded, sitting back down next to me.

Vigo sat down and reached over grabbing my hand. “Alora, you look stunning in that dress.”

“Thank you.”

“How was the ceremony? I heard it was,” he smiled, “surprising. Something about a black dress.”

I felt my face go flush. Was that why we were here? Was he pissed about me wearing a black dress to the wedding?

He laughed. “You are so much like your mother. She would have gotten a kick out of that. She was an hour late to her wedding to your father.”

“I didn’t know that.”

“Yeah, she was not happy. She loved,” he looked at me and shook his head., “anyway. I bet you’re wondering why I asked you to dinner tonight.”

“Yes, I was shocked to find out you wanted just the two of us to meet you,” Luka spoke up.
