She tapped his cheek softly, “ok, you guys be safe.”

“We will,” he replied, then looked at Sarah, “thanks for taking care of my wife.”

Sarah smiled, “my pleasure.” She handed him a bacon biscuit. “You missed breakfast too."

“Thank you.” He turned to me. “Are you ready?”

I nodded and hopped down, “Sarah thank you for breakfast.” I ran over pulling Voralie into a hug, “I can’t wait to talk to you about my mom later. I have so many questions.”

“I am looking forward to it too.” She squeezed me.

I followed him out of the house. Arturo was in the driver's seat of a black SUV, Luka opened the passenger side door. “You can sit up front.”

“No, you sit up front with your brother, I’d rather sit in the back,” I quickly hopped in the back giving him no choice.

He sighed and climbed in as Arturo pulled off. “So, what were you and my mom talking about?”

I stared out the window, my mind racing, “Apparently my mom had come here when she was pregnant with me. She stayed in the guest house I guess.”

“Really?” Luka shook his head, “Stefano wouldn't have liked that.”

“He didn’t know,” Arturo said. I looked forward, he was looking at me in the rearview mirror.

“Do you remember her being here?”

He nodded, “Mom told me that we had to keep it a secret.”

I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, “do you remember anything about it?”

He looked at me through the mirror and nodded. A small barely noticeable smile spread across his lips. It was the first time I had ever seen his smile, “I remember we played games, Luka was obsessed with hide and seek at the time, and she would pretend not to see him even though he was terrible at it, and his hand or feet would show almost every time.”

“I met her too?” Luka asked.

“Yeah, you were three or four when she was here. I was only eight or so, but I think she was here a whole week. I don’t remember much except we played hide and seek, ate in the guest house with her, and she cried a lot,” he looked at me in the mirror again, “and rubbed her belly a lot.”

I nodded as I felt the tears break free from my eyes, I turned to stare out the window. She spent an entire week here, in Stefano Rossi's guest house. I wonder if my dad knew about that if Marco knew. No one would tell me hardly anything about my mom, and I felt like I was finally going to get some answers.
