She looked at me and sighed, “I’m just, uh, thinking about Elena.”

I sat down next to her, “We’ll find her.”

She shook her head and stood up, “Don't do that.”

“Do what?”

“Tell me we’ll find her. You don’t know that she might be dead.”

“You don’t know that.”

“And you don't know she's not.” She paced around. “What if we find out she’s dead?”

“You have to keep trying, don't give up hope.” I walked over, pulling her to me.

She laid her head on my shoulder, her body shaking. She pulled away and took a deep breath. “I am going to go take a shower.” She walked to the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

I made my way into the closet and changed, then climbed into bed. My phone went off, I grabbed it, and I had a text from Arturo. ‘I’m home, forgot to text earlier any news?’

‘Yes but I don't want to do it over text, I will call you tomorrow and tell you what's up when I am outside of this house.’

‘You good?’

‘Yeah, I’m good. Talk to you tomorrow.’

Thirty minutes later she walked out in a towel, making her way to the closet.

I rolled out of the bed, and walked over to the closet, leaning against the door jam. “You alright?”

She rolled her eyes, pulling her shorts up under her towel. “Yes, I am fine.” She grabbed one of her sleeping tanks and pulled it over her head, pushing the towel down her body along the way.

I laughed, “so modest even though I have seen almost every inch of your body.”

She sighed and pushed me in the chest, making her way to the bed. She crawled in and turned off the light. I crawled beside her. “Alora I know it was a lot to take in and you’re probably scared. But I,”

“I am not scared, can we just sleep, I’m exhausted.”

“Fine.” I pushed in behind her, wrapping my arm around her.

She started to pull away, but I pulled her tighter to me. “Just relax and go to sleep.”

“Fine.”

I finished my shower, washing away the day's training. Alora had skipped training and I had yet to see her since this morning. I walked to the closet and threw on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and sneakers. I walked down the stairs and saw Nick. “Hey, have you seen Alora?”

He nodded. “Yes, she went for a walk.”

“Can you point me in the right direction?”

“Sure, come on.” I followed him outside and around the house. “She seems pretty upset. Did something happen?”

“She’s been weird since we got home yesterday. She brought Elena up and then just pretty much shut down after that.”

Nick shook his head and looked down at the ground. “She told you about that day she left I take it?” I nodded. “She grew up in a split second that day. She became hard and cold.” He looked up at me. “She was only ten.”

“I know.”

“I’ve tried to protect her; my dad and I both have done as much as we can. But Gabriele makes it hard, we have to pretty much make it seem as if we don't care about her when he is around. But I honestly think he knows better.”
