An End And A Beginning

Tzidal

"What exactly was your plan, little Omega?" Hida mocked as he squeezed my face hard in his hand. "To break into the King's castle, track me down, and kill me?" he laughed.

I jerked out of his hold, rubbing my cheek. "I am in the King's castle, and I have tracked you down. I expect killing you won't be that hard either."

His smile dimmed a bit, but he kept it in place. "You actually think a little thing like you could kill someone like me?"

"I could," Joon growled, holding his head high despite the guards pushing at his back.

"I think I could easily kill you," I said confidently.

Despite my calm demeanor, my heart squeezed in my chest as Korban's bloody, pained face flashed through my mind; the fear in his eyes, the blood bubbling out of his throat, his shuddering last breath. My body burned at the memories. It was as if the threads that were holding my heart together were fraying and snapping apart, ripping my chest open.

My body thrummed with rage for Hida.

For the lives he took.

For the children he had killed.

For the moments he had stolen.

"Little things like you amuse me so much," he smiled. "Death is hard, pup. Harder than you could ever understand. Taking someone's life is difficult. It's messy and painful, and it fills you with a burning excitement that can easily consume you." His eyes flashed with violent lust. "You have to love it to want that kind of fire coursing through your veins. It would simply be too much for something like you."

"That was a lovely speech," I smiled sweetly. "Now, be prepared. Because I will flay your skin from your body and drape it over my shoulders as I watch you die. It will be messy and painful, and I cannot wait for it to consume me."

Hida's eyes narrowed as I spoke, then he burst out into a loud, cackling laugh. His voice echoing off the stone walls.

"You know." He tilted my chin up. My skin itched where his fingers grazed, but I held firm, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing how much it bothered me. "I was denied my right to take this Omega by this fucking coward." He motioned to Byriel, abandoning me for new prey. Byriel glanced up from where he was held on the floor, as Hida loomed over him. The rich color that had returned to his skin was all but gone, leaving him pale and sweaty.

"The weak are the spoils of war, my friend, and you had no right to take that away from me. But now, I'm going to kill you and this one," he said, pointing at Joon. "And then I'm going to fuck her before I rip her throat out."

Joon's whole body was tense and shaking, his wolf trying to rip out of him. Men love to talk, but beasts thirst for blood. And my Alpha was on the verge of losing all control. Every wolf in this room was about to be dead.

I softly nodded at Joon again. Then I reached into my robes and pulled out Byriel's dagger. Joon's eyes went wide, and he planted his feet. Once I was sure he was ready, I jerked.

I twisted to face the guard holding Lex and shoved the blade right into his gut. The wolf grunted and curled into himself, screaming.

Joon roared, and the rush of feet echoed as the guards sprang into action. I didn't turn to look but instead sprinted toward the throne, wanting to put as much distance as I could between me and the fight.

I crouched behind the massive chair, scanning the room. Joon was already covered in blood, dropping the body of a guard at his feet. Two others lay dead on the ground near him. Lex was circling and taunting another guard. The wolf was horrified and hesitated to touch the siren. Lex's teeth were long and sharp, and he swung his hands out in a teasing manner, his claws inches from the terrified Alpha's face.

My eyes moved quickly to Hida, who was straddling Byriel, beating him mercilessly with savage blows. I moved to help him but stopped almost immediately. A guard caught my movements and sprinted toward me. I hunkered back behind the throne and eyed him hard as he stepped up on the dais.

"Come here, Omega," he ordered, circling the chair slowly.

"No!" I yelled, my wolf snarling and snapping within me.

The guard jerked and lunged for me, but I dodged him quickly, moving around the throne.

"Come here!" he yelled.

He ran around the side of the throne, chasing me in circles. I moved swiftly as his bulky form lumbered beneath his heavy uniform. He suddenly stopped and stepped up onto the throne, bracing himself to jump over it.

"I said come here!" he ordered, his face contorted with rage.

I gasped and backed up, bumping into a golden pole with a small flag holding the King's seal at the top. I spun it in front of me just as the Alpha jumped over the back of the throne. The pointed rod shoved hard into his gut and slid easily inside him, the fabric of the flag bunching up against his stomach. The Alpha grunted as thick streams of blood dripped down the shiny golden spear. He gripped at it, his hands finding no purchase on the wet metal. He tried speaking, but nothing came out, just blood dripping over his lips. I shoved at the spear once more, causing the guard to fall sideways and smack onto the dais with a wet thwack.
