“Oh Wyatt, I’d love to meet your dog. I bet he’s a great guard dog.”
“Maybe tomorrow we’ll bring him over to check out the place.”
He took off his boots and sat down on the empty side of the bed but positioned himself upright against the headboard. If he was sitting up, he wouldn’t fall asleep.
“You aren’t going to lay down?”
“Nope, I told you I was staying awake all night.”
“You’ll be exhausted.”
“No rest for the wicked.”
“Okay, if you insist.”
Brooklyn hunkered down into the covers on her side facing Wyatt and promptly fell asleep.
