Couldn’t get tired.

His arm slid off her and onto the mattress.

She waited a few beats before scooting away and slowly getting out of bed.

He didn’t flinch.

Holding her breath, Ari tiptoed to the window overlooking the street and peeked through the blinds.

The lights on Boone’s car flashed on and off. The engine started. A light from an upstairs window went dark.

He’d set his car to warm up and was getting ready to leave.

At this hour? He was an executive at an app developing company. There was no reason for him to go to work this early.

He could only be going to one place. To Rita.

A light turned on in a window next to the front door.

She needed to follow him.

Ariana threw on a hoodie and joggers. Raced out of the room as quietly as possible. Slid on a pair of shoes and watched Boone lock his front door. Pulled her hood over her head, tightened it. Grabbed her purse.

Headed outside. In all the commotion from Rita’s disappearance, she’d left her car in the driveway. Good. Wouldn’t have to worry about the garage door waking Damon when she left.

Ari hid behind a tree. Waited. Watched him get into the car.

She remotely unlocked her car.

Once he pulled onto the street, she darted into hers. Barely waited for the engine to turn over before pulling out too. Stayed far enough behind not to draw suspicion.

She waved to the night security guard at the gate, keeping her attention on Boone.

He turned left.

So did she.

Would he lead her to Rita?

Or would he see her following him and make good on his threat?
