Three weeks? I was unconscious for three weeks?Had Karen done anything to him? He looked very tired. Had he been spending the night here with his head on the bed?

“Why are you staring at me like that?” he asked, cocking a brow.

I’d forgotten how good-looking he was with those blue eyes that reminded me of the ocean.

“So, I was almost dead?” I said, avoiding his question.

“You could say that.”

“Wow,” I mumbled, shaking my head in disbelief.

“Eat up.”

“Did my best friend call?”

“Yeah, she was here two days ago. I already informed her you’re awake, but she has a test today. She said she’d come in the evening.”

How was I going to catch up on three weeks schoolwork? I was better off dropping the class.

“I can’t wait.” I sighed in relief.

Vina was alreadyin tears when she entered the room. She cried for half an hour before saying a word.

“You smudged your eyeliner,” I told her immediately after she stopped crying.

“Seriously? I just emptied my tear sac because of you, and that’s all you can say?” She frowned.

I laughed and hugged her with my free arm.

“I love you,” I told her with a pout.

“I love you too. I’m glad you’re okay.”

“How was your test?”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” she grunted. “Do you remember anything from that night?”

“Yes!” I adjusted myself on the bed, ready to tell her. Vina would believe me.

“Really?” She sounded surprised.

“What? You also think I’m crazy?”

“No, it is just that the doctor said—”

“I remember everything. Why won’t anyone believe me?” I cut in.

“I believe you. Fuck the doctor’s words. Tell me what you remember,” she said with a soft smile.

“It was Karen.”

Her jaw slightly dropped. “Adrian Parker’s fiancée?”

I nodded. I went on and told her everything that had happened that night.

“Puta de mierda! I will have her head on a spike the next time I see her. She’d better prepare her obituary picture. Thatperratried to kill you. Does she have any idea that I can’t live in a world without you?”

“Shave her head while you’re at it,” I said in anger. It was not like she was going to do it—but knowing Vina, she might.
