But Elliot’s instructions kept ringing in her head. He gave her a free pass with her family to start fresh all over again. But she would still remain his wife.

She looked at the two people she loved so dearly.

“He’s a good man, that Knight fellow.”

“Yes, Viv. He was so kind. He told me to come with him and I wasn’t scared. I trusted him completely. I left the room, Viv. I came in the car. He told me he would keep us safe.”

Tears shone in her eyes. She had no idea how Elliot did it but Anna had never set foot outside and when she did, it was limited to no more than five minutes.

“Are you talking about Elliot Knight? Very tall, green eyes, dark hair?”

“Yes. Your husband,” Anna said laughing, her innocence gave Vivian so much hope. “He smells very nice too, Viv.”

“It might not be the plan we had in mind. But the outcome seems better?” Uncle Matteo posed the statement as a question. By the frown on his face, he looked a little worried about her.

“Yes,” she said, forcing herself to brighten up.

“Anywhere in the world. Are you ready Vivian Knight?”

He had deliberately called her that. He knew….

“I’m… One minute. I’ll be back in a minute.”

“Take your time,” Uncle Matteo said, winking.

Vivian raced back to his apartment. The elevator never felt slower. She pushed the door open. Her gaze melted as she saw him.

“Before you decided to marry me, did you know who I was? Did you see a picture of me or something?”

He slipped his hands into his trouser pockets. For long moments he said nothing. Then he retrieved a glossy colored printed image of her.

Vivian looked at the photo. She couldn’t remember where it had been taken but that was her.

She looked up at him.

Everleigh and Arabelle were right. The Knight brothers never did anything they didn’t want to do. They certainly never married anyone they didn’t want to marry.

She charged toward him and flung her arms around his neck and kissed him.

For exactly one split second she was in charge of that kiss before Elliot took over. He lifted her off her feet and crushed her mouth to his. He sucked on her lips, her tongue. He kissed her whole face, her jaw, the flesh on her throat.

“I love you, Elliot Knight. I loved you since the first moment you married me.”

Elliot cupped her cheek.

“I’m still a bad man, Vivian. It’s in my fucking blood but don’t think I won’t give this life up for you.”

She put her finger on his lips.

“I would never ask you to do that. Who you are, this growly, dangerous, arrogant, entitled man is who I fell in love with. Don’t change.”

He pulled her closer and she wondered if her ribs were at risk of being broken.

“Vivian… I’ll kill any man—”

“Just say you love me.”

“Fuck. I love you. I fucking adore you. You’re mine. My wife. My soul.”
