“Aww, you two are precious.” Miranda smiled and stood. “We should be going.”

“I know. Thank you guys for bringing her to me. You know my bodyguard isn’t letting me leave the house for another week.”

“Maybe.” Axel winked. “Depends on how your head is.”

He was right. I still had headaches and slept a lot. I had no idea a concussion would knock me on my butt like this. It was worse than my broken leg. Gosh, I was a mess.

After Will and Miranda left with my precious Mia, my Sexy Oaf carried me to bed. He got me comfortable with pillows for my leg, then joined me. He always napped with me.

“Are you comfortable, love?”

“Mhmm.”

“I’m so thankful to your dad that I can be here with you.”

He told me this every day since he returned from Atlantic City. The way he praised my dad touched my heart. I still couldn’t believe he was going to be killed by the Russian Mafia. It brought tears to my eyes every time I thought of it. The agony Axel must have been going through when he said good-bye to me and then preparing for his death. It broke my heart.

The torment of having to choose between his brother and me still affected him at night. A few times, he would wake in a panic, drenched in sweat and calling out my name. I would soothe him back to sleep while wiping away my tears.

“I’m thankful too. I don’t want to live without you.”

“I vow to never leave you again. I will always choose you from here on out.”

“Tell me again.” I have asked him every day to repeat his beautiful words. I loved hearing them.

He snuggled closer to me, pressed his warm lips to my temple, and raised my right wrist. We both stared at the infinity symbol. It sparkled when he turned it just right. He kissed me again, breathing me in.

My heart fluttered in anticipation. He always made me wait until he was ready. Axel wasn’t one to be rushed. But I knew once the words left his lips, he meant every single one.

“My love has no beginning or ending, like the infinity symbol. It’s boundless, limitless…eternal.”

Mercy. This man had me blinded by love…

Epilogue-Axel

Eight months later…

I WAS UP at the crack of dawn, anxious to give Simone her Christmas gift. We were supposed to be at her parents’ mansion for brunch. I only had three hours to enjoy my fiancée.I proposed to her on the last leg of our summer road trip. We were in Sedona and had just gotten back to our hotel room after one of those Jeep tours. I had the ring and had been waiting for the perfect moment to drop down to one knee.

I may never know why I proposed in the shower while getting her off, but it seemed like a good time, and I was already down on both knees.

Simone had gotten emotional and immediately said yes, then we took the celebration into the bedroom.

It’s safe to assume we didn’t share how I proposed with our family and friends. We made up an alternative version, which included the Jeep tour.

This morning I was excited because it was my first real Christmas. I went all out, buying a shit ton of gifts for my girl. She didn’t have a clue either. I hid the presents in a storage room in our building. Darwin brought them to me after I texted it was all clear last night after fucking Simone senseless.

I hadn’t expected it to be fun playing Santa Claus, but I had a good time arranging everything under the tree in our living room.

But now I was ready for my girl to wake up.

Spooning her, I kissed her temple and she hummed.

“Morning, beautiful. It’s Christmas.” I peered over her shoulder to see her beautiful face.

She grinned, keeping her eyes closed. “Merry Christmas, handsome. What time is it?”

“Time to get up.”
