I clenched my fists, thinking about him. He was currently my biggest concern. The way he had been treating Isabelle and Tanya infuriated me to the core. I should have killed him. It would only be a matter of time before that day came. Before I could get too deep in thought, Isabelle spoke.

“Any good news today?” she smiled, pointing to the paper.

I glanced down to see I had carelessly opened it to the obituary section. I snickered, “No, no.” Closing it quickly, I slid it to the side of the table. “Sit,” I grinned, gesturing across the table.

She inhaled sharply, freezing in place. “What did you just say?” she whispered.

Fuck, I thought. Instantly, I changed my tone, realizing my command was a bit too similar toSir’s. I took an inconspicuous breath. Leaning on my left elbow, I covered my mouth with my index finger.

“I mean, would you like to join me for coffee?” I corrected my manners, standing up then pulling her chair out for her.

She tilted her head as she sat, almost as if she had busted me. “Yes,” she smirked, dragging out theS.

Just as she sat down, a waitress approached us. “Hello, Mr. Greco,” she greeted me directly but warmly smiled back and forth between us.

“Hello, we might need a moment to look over the menu,” I informed her, glancing at Isabelle who was staring intently at me.

Her gaze slowly peeled away from me as she peered up at the waitress. “Actually, I’ll have just a coffee please with cream and four sugars on the side,” she smiled handing her the menu.

“I will have a black coffee please.”

The waitress nodded then turned to walk away with the same warm smile on her face. Isabelle’s gaze returned to mine. She leaned forward propping up on her elbow, smiling. She began to nervously, twirl a strand of her hair around her index finger.

“I actually haven't been able to safely drink coffee for about a week now.”

I arched a brow, trying to hold in my laughter. I started remembering what it was like to sit with her while she ate and drank at the mansion. “Why is that?”

She withdrew her hand from the table, placing it in her lap. Turning around, she checked on her bodyguards, seeing that they were standing off to the side.

“It's a long story actually,” she muttered. She then craned her neck, looking over my shoulder at the men behind me, also standing nearby. “You have security?”

Not wanting to make a big deal of it, I nodded my head toward her security as well, “Yet, it seems you do too.”

“I didn't ask for them,” she defended. “But that one right there,” she nodded her head toward Joseph, “he's pretty cool.”

I glanced over to see Joseph quickly turn away, tightening his lips, resisting the urge to smile.

“Will you excuse me for a moment?” she shyly smiled. “I need to use the Ladies' Room.”

I nodded as I stood, helping her out of her chair.

She sauntered away with her other security guard, Tate, following closely behind her. The moment they were out of sight, I lifted my hand, motioning for Joseph. He approached cautiously, glancing back toward the doorway of the café before he stopped in front of me. I sat down, crossing my arms, looking up at him.

“I think I may have fucked up,” I sighed.

He smirked, nodding.

“I need you to take this phone,” I directed, handing him my phone, “and send her a preloaded text.” I rolled my eyes as I thought of a subtle gesture. “All you have to do is hit enter when I cough,” I coughed, demonstrating my signal.

He nodded again.

“Before I leave, give it back to me,” I commanded. “If she texts you back, you may give a short reply but make it sound like me.”

He smiled smugly but said nothing as he held the phone in front of his torso.

“What?” I cocked my head, arching a brow.

“Didn't you hear?” he asked, shrugging. “I'mpretty cool. I got this.”
