“I am,” he said quietly. “He hasn’t told anyone but my parents last night and me. He wanted to say I’ll thank him later for how he is going to do it today.”

“What does that mean?” she asked.

Ivan shrugged. “I don’t know what he’s going to do. I’m just glad my aunt has her eyes and attention on the little ones for now.”

“Me too,” she said.

But thirty minutes later, the gifts were all opened and the kids were playing and running around. Kendra was sitting in the shade with Ivan, Hope and Devin, along with Faith. Liam and Margo were walking over to take a seat too. They’d been checking on the food.

Everyone was moving around or relaxing. Not that there was much relaxing at these parties she was beginning to see.

“The crowd will start to pile in in about fifteen minutes,” Liam said “Most know not to show up until three at least.”

“It’s nice they were able to have this party first with everyone here,” she said.

“Multi-purpose parties is what my aunt is about,” Liam said. “Especially with so many people having to work on the weekends in the family too. Not that anyone is working today, but this doesn’t happen often.”

“Kendra.”

She turned to see Jolene coming over. “Hi, Jolene. Sorry, I didn’t get a chance to come say hi when we got here, but you’ve been busy.”

“I have,” Jolene said. “I do love my grandbabies. Then the family from Durham is here and I’m running around checking on all those kids.”

“And asking when more are coming,” Faith said, grinning.

“I have to keep up,” Jolene said. “At least they are all with someone, unlike you.”

“Nothing wrong with being single,” Faith said.

“I’ll deal with you another day,” Jolene said. “So, Kendra. Did you have a lovely vacation?”

“We did,” she said. “It was nice and relaxing. We had a lot of fun.”

Jolene’s eyes dropped to her hand. “Nothing new to report, I see.”

She paused for a second trying to figure out what was going on and then realized Jolene thought Ivan might have proposed to her while they were on vacation.

It had never even occurred to her that might happen. They hadn’t been dating that long.

She knew the Fierces seemed to move fast, but she didn’t.

She was getting ready to answer when Devin said, “What, Aunt Jolene? You’re going right to Ivan and not asking me about a baby?”

Jolene’s head whipped around and she looked at Devin. The attention off of her for now. “Are you having a baby, Hope?”

“I am,” Hope said. “We are thirteen weeks along.”

Jolene started to squeal and jump around. Eyes were all on them now and moving over to find out what was going on. “Hope is having a baby,” Jolene was shouting.

“Thanks,” Shay said. “Maybe the first-time grandma wanted to be the one to do that.”

“Then you should have done it,” Jolene said, pulling her sister up and hugging her. “And since you aren’t acting shocked that means you’ve known and didn’t say a word. How could you do that to me?”

Kendra watched as everyone came over to congratulate Devin and Hope. To ask questions on how she felt and when she was due.

She got up to move out of the way to give people space.

“Hey,” Ivan said. “Are you okay?”
