“One last thing, Tiya,” Dev began, “Because of my respect for your father, I’m going to warn you. Vihaan has something that I need, and I will go to war with him and anyone else who stands in my way to get it. If you decide to be with him, even temporarily, then you will get caught in between, and I won’t hesitate to use you against him.”

God! The man was talking in riddles, and she didn’t like his tone and words one bit.

She put a hand on her hip. “Are you threatening me?”

“I’m rather giving you a fair warning. I don’t want you to be a collateral damage in my war with him.”

“Is that what you did with Myra?” Tiya asked. “Was she collateral damage too? Is that why she quit working for you?”

When Dev remained silent for several seconds, Tiya said, “Your silence speaks for itself, Mr. Luthra. And thank you for the warning. Just remember, I’m not scared of you.”

Tossing her hair behind her, she walked away from him. Anger simmered beneath her skin. This had been a night of many revelations. The most startling was that her father had known Vihaan’s family in Shimla and he’d thought they’d all died. Tiya was convinced that Dev Luthra was involved in their story in some way.

Dev and the Rajpoots had apparently been at war for a long time. Only now, Vihaan had brought the battle to her doorstep by involving her in it. She huffed out a breath. She didn’t need that kind of drama in her life. Unfortunately for her, there was no getting out of it now. By coming here tonight, Vihaan had put a stamp on their relationship in front of her parents and then she’d gone and kissed him, further cementing that fact. He’d involved her in his life and now she’d see to it that she got all the answers she needed from him.

By disappearing on her tonight, Vihaan may have thought that he held the reins to their fake relationship, little did he realize she wasn’t someone he could walk over, ever.

Fire erupted in the Rajpoot household in Shimla.

Police is still investigating the crime, whether it was an accident or arson.

There were no survivors. Parents and three children dead.

Tiya shut her laptop with a loud bang. She pressed her hands on her eyes unable to eradicate the old pictures of the destroyed house she’d just seen.Hishouse. Vihaan’s family home that had been destroyed in a raging fire.

Three children dead.

The articles online had been old. A dozen years old. But they’d spoken of a sister. Vihaan’s sister. Oh God! Had she died in that fire along with their parents? She must have. Tiya hadn’t heard Myra mention a sister. Sadness filled her heart for him.

She heaved out a breath. After spending the whole day at work, she’d finally returned home and opened her laptop to find out more information about Vihaan, and what she’d seen had shocked her. So far, this was all she’d been able to get.

Pushing to her feet, she paced in her bedroom. Aaryan and Vihaan had survived that terrible tragedy. But then, why had they hidden themselves for years? The brothers had been ghosts until they’d spoken to the press and announced Shaurya’s real identity to the world. Even that time, no photographs had been allowed.

Her thoughts returned to Vihaan and the message he’d sent her late the previous night.

“Sorry I had to leave. But I think we achieved what you wanted for tonight. I’ll see you around hellcat - VR”

She sat on her bed. She’d been so angry with him that she hadn’t bothered to reply to him. But now, after reading about his tragedy, her heart went out to him.

She immediately sent him a text.

“Where are you? We need to meet.”

His reply was instant.“Missing me already ;)”

She called him, but he disconnected the line. Damn him.

She texted him again.

“I’m trying to call you.”

“I’m busy.”

She let out a frustrated sound. He had time to text but not take her call?!

“Where are you?”she asked again.
