“I don’t wantyou to go,” Zander said.

“I’ll be fine. Kent is sending two guys with us and you guys have your boys’ thing to do.”

“I don’t want to do a boys’ thing,” Zander replied.

“Are you sulking, Daddy?”

“No. I just don’t want you to go anywhere without me. And I don’t want to go anywhere with those guys. They’ll probably want to sit around and talk about their feelings or how great Kent is or something. I don’t want to do that.”

“You’ll be fine. You’ll have a great time. Now, I need to go.” She moved to him, putting one hand on his chest as she went onto her tippy-toes to kiss his chin. “You know I do. It’s tradition. And it was sweet of Abby to ask me.”

She loved Abby. She had to be the kindest, nicest person she’d ever met. She had no idea how she shared DNA with Max. Over these past few days, Keira had done a lot of healing. She’d talked with Abby about Max. She’d spoken to Eden, apologizing for everything. Eden had told her there was nothing to forgive. It had lifted a heavy burden off her. And she’d learned from Eden that Carl had lied about Reyes and the Iron Shadows guys and the things they were involved in.

But she wasn’t going to risk going to Reaper’s and trying to make amends.

“I think I should come with you.”

“No way. You go do your boys’ thing. I’m doing my girls’ thing. I’ll see you in a few hours.”

He grabbed her as she moved away. “Are you allowed to leave without kissing me goodbye?”

“Sorry, Daddy,” she whispered, leaning up to kiss him.

He drew his mouth back and then turned her to the door, giving her several hard smacks on her ass. “You’ll get more of that later.”

“Bye, Daddy!”

Two hours later,Keira felt like a pile of goo. All of Abby’s friends were lovely, and she’d met most of them during her time on the ranch. It wasn’t home, but she got why everyone loved living on Sanctuary Ranch.

They’d brought two guards with them, but they were out in the waiting room since Abby declared they couldn’t come in if they had dicks. That had made everyone giggle.

Now she was being led by this tiny, older woman into a room at the back.

“Time for your facial,” she said. “Get up on the table and close your eyes.”

She sounded a bit odd. Nervous. Maybe this was her first day. Shrugging it off, Keira got up onto the table. She was dressed just in a robe and her underwear, which felt a bit odd.

“Do you want to take your necklace off?” the woman asked.

“Oh no, I never take it off.” Zander would kill her if she did.

“Okay then, one moment.” Something was placed over her eyes.

There was a sudden prick at her neck. “Hey! What was thaa . . .”

Before she could move, everything went black.

“Wakey-wakey, Little Bird,”an eerie voice sung right before some water was splashed on her face. She sat up, coughing and choking. She stared around her, terrified.

Where was she? What was going on?

She glanced down at herself. Why was she wearing a white robe? And where was Zander?
