“It’s Amanda,” she says. “I need to take this.”

Chapter Fifteen

jillian

Amandanevercalls. She’sreally more of a texter, like me. So, I’m instantly worried when my phone starts to vibrate in the hip pocket of my dress. She’s the only one other than my mates who have this number. Something’s wrong.

“Amanda?” I ask as I pick up.

“Jillian, I need help,” she says quickly, her voice quiet.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” I ask.

“Can you get Rachel and ask her to come to where I am?”

“Rachel?” I ask, wondering why she’s calling me to ask for her new friend’s help.

“She has magic, and I think we need some,” Amanda says. “She’s not answering her phone and my battery is crap.”

She mutters something about wishing she’d taken her new one out.

“Where are you?” I ask, ready to come rushing to her side, with or without Rachel.

“I don’t know,” she admits, her voice lowering. “I’m in the woods. I was supposed to be having a picnic with Sean. We dozed off and when I woke up, he was gone. I went looking for him, but I can’t get out of the woods, and now it’s like I’m lost.”

“Lost? Wait. Did you say it’s like you’re lost?”

“It’s a long story, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I think magic is involved. It’s like I’m walking in circles. I can’t find a way to get out of the woods. I’m stuck here.”

Shit. That sounds bad. “Okay, I’m getting help and we’ll see you soon.”

“Thanks, Jillian.”

She hangs up and I step back into the kitchen.

Danny stands up when he looks at me. Mace and Nix follow suit quickly.

“Where does Rachel stay?” I ask Danny.

“Rachel?” he asks.

“Amanda’s in trouble and it looks like a spell is involved. We need Rachel, apparently.”

He nods, coming around the table. “She stays close to here. We can be there in five.”

I slip into my sneakers, and he does the same. If need be, we’ll abandon our clothes and shift, but right now we need to go convince Rachel that she needs to take us to my best friend.

Chapter Sixteen

rachel

CarterandAdrianarepassed out cold when I slip out of the bed to go to the bathroom and take a sneaky shower. I love how commanding my Alpha can be, but it’s not practical to stay unwashed after that kind of attention. I know Adrian will feel the same way once he wakes up. If he doesn’t, I’m sure the punishment will be fun.

I run the water, then I cleanse my face and brush my teeth while I wait for it to heat up.

It’s dark outside now, and I’m not really sure what time it is. For all I know it’s after midnight.

I tie my hair up, deciding it doesn’t need to be washed yet. Carter just dyed the streaks in again last night. The dye will run and look crap if I wash it now, so I’ll give it another day or two and then let Carter re-do it like usual.
