I curse under my breath. “A spell?”

“She was with Sean, but she can’t find him,” Danny goes on. “Nix is getting Parker and Dante. They should be here any second.”

Oh Goddess, I can’t stand this. I nod. “I’ll be right back.”

Jillian’s eyes widen, and Danny frowns, and then I’m out of there.

The teleportation spell takes me to the doorstep of Cheryl, my high school best friend.

She lives in a mansion with her mates, and the two girls who comprise her own pack. As a female Alpha, she’s creating something totally new out here with her guys, and two girls who aren’t her mates. I feel a little better the second she opens the door.

“Rachel! I won’t say it’s not good to see you, but what’s wrong?” She cuts straight to the point, as her Alpha mate appears behind her with a suspicious stare that’s directed squarely at me.

I swallow the lump that’s rising in my throat. “I need your help. I screwed up and my friend is in trouble. Can you come with me?”

“You have an Alpha,” Everett growls. “And if this is a witch thing, you’re more powerful than Cheryl.”

Cheryl rolls her eyes at him. “Don’t listen, he’s just hangry. I’ll come with you.”

“Thank you,” I tell her, my voice a hushed whisper.

“I’m coming with you,” Everett warns her.

“Coming with Cheryl, where?” I hear her Omega ask out of sight.

I take in a breath. “I can bring whoever wants to help, but it needs to be now.”

Cheryl nods. “Noah’s inside, but he won’t want to be left out. Just the four of us.”

“Ivy’s a little busy with Vi right now anyway,” Oscar says, his hand moving around to grip Cheryl’s. “They were both hangry.”

Everett growls lightly at him.

“The ‘h’ in hangry stands for horny, in this house, FYI,” Oscar adds with a grin.

Cheryl shakes her head. “Now isn’t the time for jokes, Oscar.”

I transport all of them back to Silas’ house without hesitation, and I see at least one of Amanda’s mates have made it here in my absence. Parker looks agitated as hell. Dante isn’t here, but I can guess why.

He’s part warlock, so he has an advantage over the others. He probably went straight to Amanda.

“I brought backup,” I tell them. “Okay, let’s get moving.”

“Hold up,” I hear Adrian order from behind me.

He comes down the stairs slowly, swagger in the presence of three other Alphas being in his house, essentially uninvited. His eyes are cold as he looks over the faces of the people who are clogging up our hallway.

“You’re not going anywhere,” he tells me, a command in his voice.

Atthesoundofwhispering, I snap awake. The voices are unfamiliar, and one deep inhale tells me there’s a threat nearby. Strangers. It’s dark out now, and my mate is sleeping soundly on the ground next to me, her waist-length caramel colored hair covering her bare back. I cover her exposed lower half with her dress, reluctant to wake her until I’ve checked out where the strangers are and what they’re doing.

I slip into my jeans and sneakers and pause to listen, trying to hear what they’re saying.

They don’t smell like shifters, but something about the way they’re whispering sets my teeth on edge. Instinct tells me they’re not just harmless teenagers.
