“Go back?” Oscar asks. “Go back where?”

She shakes her head. “I don’t even know. Goddess of Wolves, I don’t know how to get back to them.”

The horror in her eyes is startling. Whoever she left behind, and whatever might be happening, we’re going to have to find out where they are and rescue them.

Oscar rubs her arm. “Ophelia, we’ll find them. I promise we will.”

She moves in close and he hugs her again, holding her as she cries on his shoulder.

Everett looks at me, his lips in a grim line.

This isn’t over. It’s might never really be over.

Chapter One-Hundred-Eight

Oscar

Mysistercriesonmy shoulder, and I hold her tight. I feel awful for bringing her here when it’s causing her so much pain. Whoever she left behind must mean the world to her.

“We’ll get them back,” I tell her, sending my soothing touch into her to calm her emotions.

Her tears dry up eventually, and she pulls back, wiping at her tired eyes.

She’s dressed well, and she’s wearing the necklace I remember.

Her hair looks like it’s been styled professionally. Her make-up too.

She looks like a model, or a movie star.

She doesn’t look like she’s been starved or beaten, and she’s devastated at being brought here.

Oh hell. Maybe she wasn’t trapped in the awful situation I expected.

What if I took her away from her mates?

“Where have you been all these years?” I ask, not sure of another way to put it.

I don’t want to upset her any further.

“I don’t know,” she tells me, shaking her head. “In a tower in a castle in the middle of a forest.”

A castle? That probably means Europe, or the UK.

“Were you allowed out of the house?” I ask, wondering if there are any details that might help us identify where it was.

“No. Never. We tried to escape a few times, but it was impossible.”

“We?”

“There were two other Omegas there. Not from Limestone Ridge. They were already there before me. We were raised together by the house staff.” She smiles. “They became my whole world. And then…” She shudders. “The man who bought us, got us for a reason. A fucked-up reason. It was torture, and I’m glad you got me out of there, but I need to get them back. I can’t leave them there.”

“We’ll get them back,” I tell her again. “I promise. My mate’s a hybrid. She’s part witch, and she has a coven. We’ll work out who took you and we’ll find them.”

Ophelia looks up, her gaze wandering to the other people in the room.

“He must be your Alpha,” she says when her gaze lands on Everett. “Did he kill Mercer?”

I shake my head. “Everett’s one of my Alphas. Cheryl’s the other, and she’s my mate. She killed Mercer.”
