“We don’t have a fucking plan!”

“Speak for yourself,” he shoots back.

It’s no use. When Adrian makes a decision, it’s a done deal.

I rush after my Alpha, chasing him down the stairs.

Sara’s on the landing when he gets there, pointing out the way forward. “She’s that way!”

Adrian nods as he passes. He strips out of his shirt as he goes, which I’m guessing means he’s going to shift forms to maul the demonic spirits who look like us.

Fucking hell. How much crazier can this night get?

Chapter Sixty-Five

Rachel

ThenightIalmostdied, I ran like hell and did everything I could to evade Paul Winters, the guy who decided if he couldn’t have me, he’d kill me and sacrifice my soul to his Dark Lord. The odds were stacked against me, and eventually, despite my iron-clad determination, he caught me and stabbed me. I knew the wound was fatal when I felt the knife sink in. I knew it was over, but I was still going to fight him off until my final breath.

Adrian killed him and saved me, making Paul’s soul forfeit to his Dark Lord.

He’s been in hell for these past six months, serving his master. That should have taught him something, but clearly it hasn’t. Instead of being afraid that he’ll be sent back to that punishment, he actually thinks the insane plot he cooked up with his apparently equally deranged fiancé is going to work.

He almost got me that first time.

He won’t get another chance like that one.

I have a pack now, and I have a coven.

I’m not the same girl who was shocked when he bound my magic and brought me to that cabin. He might have had the edge over me in that moment, but I have the edge over him now.

I stalk down the corridor, scent tracking my mates. The necromancer separated us after she had her malicious spirits drag us inside. I haven’t picked up any scent trails so far, but the house is huge and there are three storeys, not including an attic and basement.

I’ll find them. Or they’ll find me.

Then we can decide how we’re going to deal with this mess before we go looking for the woman who’s pulling all the strings.

I see I’m on the second floor of the building when I pass the staircase.

I’ll double back this way and check the third floor if I don’t find my mates on this one.

I can tell there are two shifters, one necromancer, one human and one witch/shifter hybrid in the building, but any spells I attempt to track down their locations don’t work.

The necromancer must have a scrambling spell activated inside the building.

My basic spells work fine, but anything more complex is blocked.

Sighing, I force myself to move a little faster. The sooner I find my mates, the better.

I hear something around the corner, and I stop walking, holding my breath and listening closely.

“She must be down this way.”

“I don’t know, I’m not picking up her scent trail.”

Silas, and Adrian. I let out a relieved sigh as I step around the corner.

They stop walking as I approach. Silas looks stunned to see me, and Adrian gives me a grin.
