She had come to prey upon her, at her weakest moment. Hannah cried.

Little Feather saw her crying and came to her. "Something is wrong, what can I do for you, Hannah?"

"Nothing," Hannah cried. "Luki still wants Lone Wolf, she will not leave him alone until she has him. Lone Wolf is a much sought-after man, soon he will be chief, and more women will want him. How can I think to hold him when my back looks so scarred?"

Little Feather looked worried. "Lone Wolf would not fall prey to a woman like that."

"All men seek beauty, Little Feather. My back is scarred, I cannot change it. It would be rough to the touch, and unsightly."

Little Feather realized that Hannah feared losing Lone Wolf and she would not let this happen. Hannah deserved Lone Wolf and Luki did not. She would not let him fall prey to Luki's vile tricks.

When she came out of the tipi she looked for Lone Wolf.

"Something troubling you Little Feather," he asked as he oiled his rifle when she came upon him.

"Luki came to visit Hannah."

"For what purpose?" Lone Wolf looked at her with a frown.

"I would imagine to upset her. She is crying."

Lone Wolf stood up, "Thank you for telling me."

Little Feather pulled on his arm, "Do not fall prey to Luki, she seeks to seduce you. To hurt your marriage to Hannah. You must never let her do such a thing."

Lone Wolf looked down into her sad face, "It took much courage to tell me such a thing, and I appreciate it."

"I have come to love and respect Hannah."

"I am glad, you will be great friends."

Little Feather nodded with a smile, "Yes, we will."

Lone Wolf went inside the tipi where Hannah lay. "I have heard you had an unwelcome visitor."

Hannah nodded silently.

"Luki!"

"Yes…" Hannah managed to say.

"What did she want?"

Hannah scoffed, "You, of course."

"Have I not made love to you, and given you my heart?" He asked, coming closer.

"Yes," she cried.

"You will hold my heart as long as you live." He told her, "You and only you. For I want no other."

"You are wise in so many ways, but most men are not wise to a woman like Luki. It will not stop her from trying." Hannah cried. "Like the serpent that seduced Eve in the bible, she will not quit."

"She wastes her time. Hannah do not trouble yourself about her. Had I wanted her, I would have taken her before I ever came to you. I did not want her then, nor now. I want only you!"

"But my back, it is ugly." She cried. "I am ashamed of it. Most people can hardly stand to look upon it."

"Your back is only part of you. It is part of your courage and your will to live. It is like a badge you wear. I love it, as I love you. No woman I know, could bear what you have taken at an evil man's hands. As a warrior I can appreciate it, love it, relish it even. I love you Hannah and there is nothing you can do, to undo that. You already have my heart."
