“We have to find her,” they said. “Mich is thankfully passed out or else he would be raising hell in here too.”

“I can track her,” Ember said. “But all of you should get out. Cinder and I will find her.”

“No,” I said. “I’m helping. But Sylvia and Art, both of you go.”

Sylvia shook her head. “I can’t leave you.”

“Yes, you can,” I growled, giving Art a look. “Go.”

Art winced and opened up another portal, looking at Sylvia expectantly.

Sylvia let out a breath and then leaned forward, stealing a kiss from me. A warm one, one that was filled with love and yearning.

“Come back to me,” she said. “In one piece.”

I nodded, taking a deep breath. “Make sure our mate is alive,” I said.

“I will,” she said.

I then watched as she and Art went through the portal.

Ember grimaced. “Minni and Lea were mad I was going back in, but they were still helping the others.”

I nodded and turned, the three of us now moving down the hall and going around the wreckage.

“I can feel her,” Cinder said, taking the lead.

We went to the stairwell, following them. My heart pounded, my senses heightened as we all moved as a unit. The building groaned more, and I knew that soon, it would be coming down completely. Ember and Cinder would get us out before we were harmed, but Lora…

Cinder stopped on the sixth floor, pushing on the doors. They wouldn’t budge.

All three of us immediately tried to push, but it was blocked.

“Stand back,” Ember said.

Cinder and I took a step back, watching as she raised her hands and then sent a burst of magic that broke a hole straight through the wall.

I raised a brow, but we were on the move again, slipping onto the floor.

Cinder let out a breath, rushing down the hall to a door and kicking it in.

“There you are,” they breathed. “My love.”

Ember and I looked at each other and then through the doorway, seeing Lora. She was tied up, tears streaming down her face. Cinder cut the binds and then lifted her, holding her in their arms.

Their embrace made my eyes water.

“Oh fuck,” she gasped, her arms wrapping around them. “Fuck, I couldn’t break free. Oh my gods.”

“I know,” Cinder said.

“Where’s Mich?!”

“He’s okay, he’s safe,” Cinder assured her. “We’re okay. We’re all okay and getting out of here.”

“I’m never coming back here again,” she said.

“You won't have to,” Cinder said, turning to look at the two of us.
