We ran toward a small side gate, but my legs were shaky and weak from my time in the cell. I stumbled, but Teo’s grip lifted me back to my feet.
A few of Andrea's men tried to follow us but Teo and our group shot each one without hesitation and we pushed on.
We made it to a black sports car with only two seats and I looked at them puzzled.
"This is our getaway car. The others will go back and finish this."
"We're just going to leave your friends behind?" I asked in astonishment.
"We are friends, we are also family, his captains, and his soldiers when needed. As we will be yours once you become donna to the Venturi family." Alessandro's words touched me, and I reached out to gently grasp his arm.
"Be careful. And thank you."
"You're welcome." I released his arm and Alessandro looked at Teo. "Get her out of here. We've got this. We'll meet up as planned."
"Thank you, my friend." Teo and Alessandro clasped arms before we climbed in the car and the other men returned to the fight.
Teo started the car and it roared to life while I quickly buckled my seat belt.
"I feel bad leaving them behind."
"I know. But our first priority is getting you to safety. They are trained for this sort of thing."
I silently nodded, still feeling like I should have stayed to fight but ultimately knowing that I'd be no good to anyone in my current state.
Teo sped out of our hiding spot and once we hit the paved road, he laid on the gas, sending me jolting back against my seat. I gasped and Teo gently took my hand.
"It's okay. I've got you."

We sped down the roadfor over half an hour before pulling off onto a series of smaller windy roads that led to the safe house where I’d arranged for us to stay. It was an elegant mansion, perched on the side of a cliff that overlooked the ocean below.
I stopped the car right in front of the door and rounded the car to open Mia’s door for her.
"What is this place?" Mia gazed up at the beautiful beach house with a hint of wonder in her voice.
