I joined them and slid right into Jagger’s lap. “He really was,” my fiancé faux-complained. “Thought we were going to have to end the night early to keep him from crying into his Dr Pepper.”

“Bullshit,” Cannon said, lifting his bottle of Corona to his lips. “All three of you idiots were whining about missing your wives.”

“Aww,” Mila cooed as she dropped onto the arm of Lyric’s chair. “Did you miss me, big guy?”

“So bad, babe.” He snaked an arm around her waist and lifted her onto his lap.

“At least they each have a heart that works enough that they can miss their wives,” Piper sniped at Cannon as she crouched down by the ice chest and shifted through the contents. “Ugh, beer and Dr Pepper is all you ordered? What kind of stag party is this?”

“A boring one,” Cannon grumbled, ignoring her jab at him for not having a working heart.

I cupped Jagger’s face. “You were bored?”

“I was missing you,” he corrected. “We were about to call it a night when your sexy ass dropped right into my arms. Which made the evening perfect.”

I snuggled deeper into his lap, nearly purring when I felt exactly how happy he was to see me. Things might have nearly taken a turn for the worst, but the blast from the past hadn’t gotten her evil way. Which meant I could enjoy the rest of the night with the people who mattered the most.

Chapter 6

Jagger

My eyes were just starting to drift closed when my phone started going off with alerts. Shaw grumbled, half asleep, and turned away, her naked ass capturing my attention from the soft glow of the lamp we’d left on so I could watch her ride my cock. But then I got another alert, and Shaw whined unhappily.

“Make it stop,” she mumbled in an adorable, disgruntled voice that was thick with satisfaction and sleep. “We have to be up in a few hours for the flight to Hawaii.”

Rolling, I reached across her for my phone on the nightstand. Before I picked it up, I brushed a kiss along her bare shoulder blade and was rewarded with her sensual shiver. “You sure you want to sleep, Dimples?”

“Sleep now, fuck later,” she said with a yawn.

Two more alerts, back-to-back, pinged on my device, and I cursed as I snatched it off the nightstand. Rolling back onto my pillow, I looked down at the screen and felt my stomach bottom out. “Shaw, who knew you were going to be at First Bass?”

She huffed and lifted her head to prop it on her hand. “Mila, Vi, and Jenner. Piper tagged along at the last minute.”

“No one else?” I asked without looking at her, my gaze glued to my screen as I flipped through the social media feed, with Shaw hashtagged in every damn one of them.

But the subject matter wasn’t my fiancée. It was Violet, Luca, and—of all fucking people—Megan Hawthorn.

“No. Not even your mom or my own. I left a group of women watching some rom-com downstairs with snacks and a housekeeper who was supposed to take care of their every need. Seeing as Mia, Nevaeh, and Arella are all pregnant, I figured Mrs. Briggs needed to stay alert in case of random weird cravings.”

My theory that Shaw’s every move was being watched by someone on Ma’s staff didn’t seem to hold water any longer, but someone sure as fuck was keeping tabs on her. But what was going to infuriate her even more was that the damn press was more focused on Violet.

Lowering my phone from my face, I turned it to let her see the picture of Megan practically being wrestled by the two security guards who I remembered had blocked us off from the rest of the VIP at First Bass earlier. A few of the pictures were angled just right to show both Luca and Lyric in the background while Megan obviously screamed at the guard.

Apparently I’d been so lost in the conversation, mixed in with the good music that was always playing at First Bass, that I hadn’t noticed what was going on outside my group of friends until Shaw and the girls showed up.

“Did you see that crazy bitch Megan at the club?”

Shaw grabbed my phone and sat upright in bed, her hair falling over her tits to hide the lusciousness from me. I nearly pouted. If I had to deal with this shit, I should at least be gifted with the view of her beautiful body as a consolation. “Holy shit,” she whispered as she zoomed in on one of the pictures. “That crazy cunt!”

“We already knew that about her,” I muttered, reaching out to brush her hair over her shoulder.

She slapped my hand away and snapped her fingers in my face. “Focus, Jags. This entire time, I thought the paps were stalking me because of—well, me. But instead, it was all about Violet!”

I cocked a brow at her assumption. “How do you figure that, babe?”

“Her.” She zoomed in again and then shoved the screen in my face. “See that brunette?”

Grasping her wrist, I pulled it back from my face a couple inches so the person on my phone could come into focus. I had to blink a few times before I could really take the woman in, but when I did, I couldn’t place her. Although, she did look vaguely familiar.
