Six months later…

“Not me, not me, not me, not me,” Harper squeals, tossing my wedding bouquet of calla lilies to the group of women beside her who were actively trying to catch it.

Harper caught it by accident when I threw it because she was fixing her hair. She caught it to stop it from hitting her in the face.

Susan Peters, one of my friends from college, catches the bouquet. The girls cheer, but Harper and I are laughing so much at her prior debacle we can’t contain ourselves enough to clap.

Still laughing, Harper comes up to me and takes my hands.

“Not meyet,” she amends. “There are far too many gorgeous men here for me to pick just one. I want them all.”

I laugh and shake my head at her. Only she would say something like that.

“I’m being serious.Loook.” She releases one of my hands and points toward the group of guys standing across from us with Dante.

They’re a mixture of Dante’s friends and groomsmen. They do look good, but my eyes are glued to my incredibly handsome husband. Dressed in his tux, Dante looks like he just stepped off a billboard. He’s perfect and sexy and all mine.

Feeling my eyes on him, he looks away from Virgo, who’s talking to the group, and finds me. He stares back, and I smile like an idiot. He chuckles and gives me his trademark wink that holds secret sexual promises for later.

“And look. Oh my God.” Harper tugs on my arm, dragging my attention back to her. She circles her finger, motioning to the group of Italian men standing by the side doors of the church. Most are Dante’s cousins and friends who traveled from Italy for our special day. “My ovaries can’t take it.”

“Harper, there is no one like you.”

She looks back at me and gives me a sassy shrug. “Nor you, my friend. Congratulations on your wedding day. You look absolutely beautiful.”

She makes a show of spinning me around, and I feel like a princess again in my gorgeous dress.

I felt like one when I walked down the aisle and Dante and I took our vows. I felt like one when the priest pronounced us man and wife and we had our first kiss.

I was a whole new woman when we faced our guests who filled the entire hall.

Three hundred people witnessed our wedding, and it was a magical day.

Harper glances over my shoulder, and her smile widens. “Looks like your groom is coming to get you. Tell him to put in a good word with one of his friends or family for me. Tell him to say something about my cooking, or something like that.” She giggles.

“Oh, Harper.”

“Am I allowed to steal my bride now?” Dante asks.

“Yes, you may.” Harper nods with enthusiasm. “Have the very best time.”

“We will.”

We’re leaving for our honeymoon now, and I have no idea where we’re going.

Dante takes my hand, and as we walk down the path leading toward the limo waiting to take us away, our guests cheer for us one last time.

As soon as we get into the back of the limo and it takes off, Dante pulls me in for a passionate kiss.

I move away, laughing.

“Come back, wife. We’re on our time now.”

“Tell me where you’re taking me first. You said you’d tell me on our way out.”

He chuckles, deep and low. “I’m taking you to Verona.”

I gasp and bring my hands to my heart. “What? No way.”
