The fire in his eyes magnifies. “I love you too, baby girl.” He lowers his head and kisses me slowly, almost sweetly before pulling back with a growl. “You know how bad I want to drop to my knees and taste you under that dress?”
“About as badly as I’m dying to let you fuck my mouth?”
He groans and adjusts himself in his slacks. “Sophie, I can’t get married with a fucking hard-on.”
I giggle. “Sure you can. You can do any damn thing you want, Leo. You’re the boss.” I shoot him a wink and he presses another kiss to my forehead.
“I may be the boss but you sure as hell own my heart. Now please, can we go get married?”
I hurry and take his hand in mine. “Time to make this official.”
The door opens and like a well-choreographed dance, Leo reaches for a weapon as I step back.
“Whoa, whoa, I have an invite,” my father spits out as he stands in the doorway, the wedding invitation in his one hand. He looks somewhat older and thinner, but still just as I remember him.
“Dad, you…you came?” I say breathlessly.
“Of course. No matter how big an asshole I am, I can’t miss my friend and little girl getting hitched, can I?” His gaze flickers between us, gauging our reactions.
I go to my father and wrap him in a hug. “I’m glad you’re here. I missed you.”
“Sorry it took so long to get my head out of my ass. I’m happy for you, Sophie. And not that you guys need it at this point but you have my blessing.” He turns to Leo and extends a hand.
Leo slaps his hand away and pulls him into a hug. “Bout fuckin’ time, brother.”
I brush a tear off my cheek at the sight of the two most important men in my life reconciling. Even though I didn’t need my father here, I’m fulfilled as ever now. Today…today isperfect.
“I don’t need you to give me away, Dad. Leo and I already talked this through but if you’d like to walk me down the aisle since you're here, that'd be lovely,” I say with a smile, thrilled at the thought of it.
“You sure?” Dad looks at me and then at Leo.
Leo nods. “Damn sure. You’re family, Ryan. We’re glad to have you back around.”
Family.For so long it felt as if I never had that but now, in this very room, I have my father, Leo and our little peanut. So much love now in life…and all because of mydad’s best friend.
