“We had a deal” at her petulant tone. Hyde leaned in a little closer. Enjoying the way she arched back in the seat, trying to avoid him.

“Alive and rich, with nowhere to go and nothing to spend it on. Is still better than dead,” straightening with a smile, he looked down at her “but it’s your choice,”

“Thats a dick move, Hyde,”

His smile growing, he nodded. “I look forward to hearing from you” Turning for the door, he held it open for Morticia to move through before him.

He moved down the stairs, his mind churning over the information. Talia was to be sacrificed. Draven was going to kill her. How the hell was he going to get her out of this one?

At the bottom of the stairs, he stopped at Morticia’s touch. He raised his eyebrows as he looked down at her, noticing the worried expression on her face.

“What?”

“Why is this girl so important to you?”

“She is Draven’s fiancé. I am just doing my job.”

“Then why give Marnie money, Hyde? Why not just take her to Draven? You know he can make anyone talk.”

“I wanted to hear what she had to say first,”

Morticia shook her head and moved closer to him, tightening her fingers on his arm. Her dark eyes intent on his.

“Be very careful, Hyde. There are some things we can change in this life and some things we cannot. You risk more than just your life if you move against Draven.”

“I am many things Morticia. A fool is not one of them.”

Lifting her fingers off his arm, he squeezed them gently before letting them go. “Keep an eye on the witch, kill her if she tries to leave”

“I am not a prison Hyde” smiling at her sigh behind him, he made his way to the front door, glancing back as he pushed it open. His voice was empty, even in his own ears.

“It won’t be for long. Talia’s twenty-fifth birthday is in two days.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

The sun was stretchingits slow fingers across the sky as Hyde was finally striding up the barracks’ front steps. He pushed open the heavy doors and walked through the club room. His boot steps loud in the silence of the empty tables and chairs.
