His scent, Talia’s sweet jasmine smell and one other scent, was vaguely familiar. The taste of magic that hung in the air was of greater concern. It wasn’t Talia’s magic. That meant another witch.

He growled in the back of his throat as he pulled on his shirt and jacket. One witch was hard enough, two was problematic. Making his way out the still ajar door, he stalked to the stairs.

Stepping out into the foyer, he made his way to where Thorn stood, near the elevators, his head hanging low. Hyde shook his enforcer's shoulder, causing him to open his eyes briefly before slumping into him as he swore.

Asleep again almost instantly.

Lowering the heavy man to the floor. Hyde stepped over him. The spell would be affecting the other two pack members. Perhaps everyone else in the hotel.

He was the only one awake and would be for a while.

His father's genetics provided some reasons to be grateful. The thought made Hyde grimace as he walked towards the door.

He could smell her here. She was afraid. His hand ran over the handle of the door. He would give her reason to be afraid.

As he stepped onto the broad porch, Hyde gazed at the storm that continued to rage across the mountains. The smell of engine oil fading with every raindrop.

Deep in his core, he could sense his prey. A gift that his demonic heritage brought him. Once he had a scent, he could follow endlessly. Even across oceans. Not even the storm could slow him down. In fact, it would help him, as the witches would eventually need to take refuge somewhere.

Inhaling deeply, Hyde smiled a little. His wolf stretching through him as he tossed his jacket over the railing. Rolling his shoulders, he pulled the shirt off, dropping it to the ground as he let go of his control.

His wolf roaring through him.

Fur rippling over him as his muscles contorted and grew. His eyes lifting to greet the storm as he howled out his warning.

CHAPTER SIX

Sitting on the lounge, Talia tried to ignore the two pairs of eyes that stared at her from across the room. From the moment they had come in, the two men had stared at her, expressionless.

Marnie stood across the room, talking low with a third man. Now and then she gestured to her. A smile teasing her lips as she reached up, pressing her lips against the rough looking mans mouth.

The man kissed her back, pulling her closer. His eyes opening to stare at Talia across the room.

With her stomach tightly clenched, Talia stood up and looked away. She moved around the room, flickering her eyes from one surface to another. Time to warn her grandmother before Hyde woke up was fast running out. She needed to find the phone; she needed to speak to her grandmother. The sooner she found a way out of these mountains, the better.

She just had to find the damned phone and convince the most stubborn woman in the world to meet her in Saint Louis.
