“Is it bad luck to see you beforehand?” Trick whispered into her ear.

Startled, she spun to face him. “That rule is only for the bride, not her wedding planner.” He gave her a kiss, and butterflies took wing in her belly. “Besides, we don’t have bad luck.”

“Mmm. Good point.” He kissed her again. “Was this the most challenging wedding you’ve ever planned?”

“Not even close. That prize belongs to Ari and Ex, and you had quite a bit to do with that.”

He raised their joined hands and kissed hers. “Where do we stand for this part?”

“You—” she pushed him toward the side entrance “—go over there and film those unforgettable moments you promised the bride and groom you’d capture.”

“What about you?” he asked as he checked the settings on his camera.

“I will wait back here and make sure the wedding party and the bride make it to the end of that aisle.”

“So you can head off any disasters before they occur?”

“Exactly.”

“Lens check.” He lifted the camera and pressed Record. Rylee was used to him asking for her help with lighting tests.

She posed and sent him a cheeky grin. “How do I look?”

“Like a woman who is being proposed to.”

Her smile dropped. “Excuse me?”

“We’ve already combined our lives and our businesses. Why not make it official?” With his free hand, Trick produced a ring from his pocket and extended his arm. “I can’t let you continue to be the wedding planner who hasn’t planned her own wedding. And I can’t bear the idea of going one more month without knowing you’ll be part of my future.”

“The man who never plans is planning for the future?”

“Ourfuture.” He lowered the camera, but kept it facing her, the red light on. “You bring out the best in me. You always have. What do you say? Will you marry me, Rylee Meadows?”

“Cliffside wedding?”

“You’re the planner. You tell me.”

She rushed to him, bypassing the ring to plant a kiss on the center of his mouth. “Why don’t we plan it together? I’m flexible.”

He grasped her waist and squeezed. “You proved that last night.”

Against his lips, she laughed. She liked knowing she’d be laughing with him for years to come. Sometimes the best-laid plans weren’t planned ahead.

No matter where they held their wedding: on a cliffside, at the Texas Cattleman’s Club or on a space shuttle bound for the moon, Rylee had faith in Trick and in their future. A future thatdidn’thave to be perfect.

The best things in life rarely were.
