“Are any of us delighted by being forced to face our fears?” Eli responded.

“No, that’s unfortunately true. Would you permit me to speak with her before you begin the scene? For my own peace of mind.”

Elias looked at Evander. “I’ve no issue with that.”

“Me either.”

“All right then, down you go, minx.” Eli let her slide down his front, his hands firm on her hips to steady her descent. He didn’t release her until she was standing, and the blood rush passed. “Mind your manners.”

“It’s not the Little I need to speak to, it’s adult Callie.” Thane turned his hand toward the bed. “Would you sit for me, please, sweetheart? This won’t take long.”

She stepped back instead, pressing into Elias as though the new Dom in the room wanted to devour her. “I’d rather stand.”

“Then I will, if you’ve no objections. My leg still gives me shit some days, and today’s been particularly testing. Chasing around after toddlers is not on my recommended list of things to do with a bum leg.” Light glinted off the silver in his hair as he lowered himself slowly onto the mattress, avoiding the neatly folded blanket at the foot of the bed. “Now, you understand the rules of Avalon, and the lifestyle?”

“I g-guess so?”

“You guess or you know?”

She shrank back further at the edge in his tone. “I k-know, sir.”

“Good. So you know that consent runs this train from start to finish.”

She nodded warily.

“Taking into consideration the focus of your Doms’ intentions with your hard limits, are you giving them consent for this scene?”

“Um…” Her hips twitched. “I can use my safeword?”

Thane nodded soberly, studying her face as intently as a hawk. “The in-room security has been disabled for tonight. Normally, if a sub says the club word, a dungeon monitor is dispatched to the room to ensure the Dom abides by the rules and stops play. They’ll also check the submissive isn’t in distress, and help if needed.”

“O-Okay.”

“Your Daddies believe you’ll tap out several times over the course of the scene. They’ve asked me to act as an independent adjudicator, so to speak, to assess your condition when you safeword in case they become too…mired in what they’re doing.”

This time, she stepped away from Elias. “Should I be running now?”

“There won’t be pain, little minx. Not what you’re expecting, anyway. We promised you we’d never harm you.” Eli’s voice was low and quiet, as sincere as it had ever been in his life. “We told you it would be a lesson in trust, and that’s exactly what it will be.”

Callie turned to look at Evander.

He shrugged his broad shoulders. “All we’re asking for is your trust, sweetness.”

Lastly, she gave Thane her full attention. “What about you? Can I trust you?”

He held his hands out to the sides. “My reason for being here is to protect you, Callie. It’s your decision whether or not you trust me. Like these two, all I can do is promise that your interests come first.”

Warily, she crossed to the bed, sitting down gingerly, out of Thane’s reach. Her shoulders slumped, her face dropping into her hands as she breathed deeply. “What do you need me to do?”

“Is that consent, Callie?”

She nodded, her hair tumbling forward. “Yes. I consent.”

“All right, then. Gentlemen, this is your party now.” Stiffly, Thane rose and limped over to a corner next to the door, settling into a low, dark-colored armchair someone had shoved there.

With his dark clothes, and the lights in the room focused more central, the Dom seemed to fade from view with little effort, using the shadows as cover.

This was indeed their party. Carefully planned. Hopefully, perfectly executed.
