“He told you and everyone else here that he loves you,” Raven chimes in with a hip bump. “Shut up so I can listen to the rest of the song. It’s really good.”

I can barely see by the end as tears stream down my face. Here I’ve been so worked up by his silence all day, and he’s been busy writing this? God, this is what I get for overthinking everything.
When the song ends, and the crowd calms down from their thunderous appreciation of his performance, the judge, Janet, chimes in with a laugh. “Wow… did you really write that song today?”
Jax nods once as he speaks into the mic. “Yes, I did.”
This time James asks, “And is this Sloane in the audience tonight?”
“Yes, sir, she is.”
James chuckles. “A lot of girls will be envious of Sloane after that amazing performance.”
“Wait…” Janet interrupts. “Are you talking about Sloane Lancaster?”
Holy shit… they’re really discussing me—and now my blubbering face is on the freaking jumbotron behind Jax. If I weren’t so shocked that he proclaimed he loves me, I’d probably have the sense to be mortified.
“Well…” James chortles. “It looks like she might just feel the same.”
“I sure hope so,” Jax says without missing a beat. “She means everything to me.”
Doing my best to ignore myself being projected behind Jax, through watery eyes, I lock eyes on him and nod in agreement. “I love you, too.”
“Well, if that isn’t the sweetest thing…” Janet swoons.
