No keyboard interface popped up.

“How?” she asked the system.

“With your finger, Merry Savage, write it in the box,” MATE stated. “This is holographic mode.”

She did, and lo and behold, the numbers appeared out of thin air.

“This shit is cool,” she said, continuing to draw all around her and having it appear.

Because she could, Merry drew a heart with Boone’s name in it.

“That’s my girl, enjoying the AI that’s going to kill us one day.”

She snorted.

The system hummed, and both sets of armor beeped when they were registered.

“You are synced.”

That worked for them.

“Well, Snakes, it’s time to get out there and get us some intel,” Maura said.

They each gave her a fist bump and pulled on their gear.

Their husbands helped them get into the vests, and then cover them with clothing so that they could walk down the street unnoticeably.

“Coms on,” Eve said, and they heard the beeps from the vests.

They each took an earbud so that they could stay in contact, and then, they headed out.

“Now, we wait,” Maura said. “And see if this is a game that Artemis has set up for us.”

Dakota’s eyes went huge.

“A setup? What do you mean a setup?”

She looked at him and broke it to Dakota.

“That intel came a little too easily, don’t you think?” she asked. “This might be a trap.”

“And my wife just went out?” Dakota stated. “MY PREGNANT wife, who I just got?”

Rogue patted him on the back.

Oh, he was accustomed to this crazy. He knew where Dakota was coming from.

Only, the Snakes were damn good at what they did.

“They’ll be fine,” he said, hoping he wasn’t lying to a man he considered a brother.

Dakota just stood there.

Well, shit.

That was bad.

For Adder, Mamba, and everyone.
