“Others?” Ford said.
“The Trainers and Howards.”
“Ah, I understand now. They’re pretty good at it, I imagine.”
“I want to be like them.”
“Always good to have people you want to be like, Ritchie, but also really important to be your own man.”
“Hey, Ritchie, you want to come up here and take a look?” Luke called.
“Is it safe for him to unbuckle?” Autumn whispered.
“I doubt they’d have asked if it wasn’t.” Ford leaned over her and helped Ritchie out of his seat.
“You okay if I leave you now, Mom?”
“Yes. Having you hold my hand helped.”
“Don’t let her hand go, Ford.”
“I promise I won’t.”
Ritchie headed up the narrow aisle to the front of the plane.
“So you don’t like flying?”
She turned, and there he was. The extremely hot and sexy Ford Winter. She shot his brother and Luna a look, but they were pointing to things outside the window.
“I’m not exactly terrified. I just get nervous. I had a flight once that was hell.” She tried to untangle their fingers, but he just tightened his grip.
“You hear from your ex again?”
She nodded.
“He annoying you?”
“No. He’s gone, just a few phone calls. Nothing I can’t handle.”
“I know he’s gone.”
“You checked?”
He smiled.
“A smile is not an answer, not even one like that.”
“Like what?”
“You’re using that to confuse me, and I need to tell you something.”
“My smile confuses you? I must remember that. What do you want to tell me?”
“My son told me I could date you because he overheard Aunt Jess talking to Joe about us being a nice couple. Ford, people are starting to notice.”
“Does that bother you?”
“I don’t know.” She went for honesty. “Does it bother you?”
