When the guys left me behind and Killian got away, I told myself I wasn’t going to trust them. That I had grown complacent.

I was wrong. I can trust them, especially Felix.

But Idoneed to stand up for myself and stop letting anyone make decisions for me. Be the strong, independent woman I’m meant to be.

I step back into his arms because how could I stay mad at someone as sweet as Felix? He admitted his mistake and promised to do better. I can’t hold a grudge, except with Akshole because I completely blame him and he certainly hasn’t apologized.

“Fine, you have another chance. Don’t mess it up.”

He kisses the top of my head. “I won’t.”

Anna

A hand slams down on the table as a body falls into the seat across from me.

Iwashaving a peaceful breakfast in silence with Griffyn, Blaze, and Felix.

“Weavers are impossible to find. Most people don’t even know they exist and all my careful inquiries have come up empty,” Aksel says, frustration clear in his tone.

I look up from my toast.

“If we’ve never come across one in our work, that makes sense,” Felix says.

He leans over, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

“Should you ask your dad, Aksel?” Griffyn asks too casually.

Aksel stiffens further. His eyes barely flit to me before he says, “That wouldn’t be wise.”

“I’ve been called into headquarters to do a progress report tomorrow. Blaze is coming with me. Felix you should go check on the boy we rescued. Griffyn you’ll have to stay here and be with Anna,” Aksel directs.

“Griffyn and I will go with Felix. I want to see how Michael is doing and I won’t be left behind,” I say.

Aksel stares me down but I maintain eye contact. Neither of us blink.

“Anna is coming,” Felix declares, staring Aksel down too.

Before Aksel can protest Griffyn says, “She is. It was a mistake to leave her behind last time.”

Blaze grunts and I’m pretty sure it’s in agreement.

Aksel glares at me, standing up and leaning against the table in a power pose. “No.”

Felix immediately matches him, pulsing dominance as he says, “You’re outvoted Aksel. It’s a mistake to leave her behind, she’s an asset and we need her. We will all be morefocusedwith her there.”

Were they distracted last time? I open my mouth to ask but Aksel beats me to it.

“You’re blinded.”

“No, You’re blinded. By what? I’m not sure but I’m seeing clearly. I won’t back down on this.”

Felix defending me is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. He’s backing up his promise with actions and recognizing my strength. It’s everything I could want in a mate.

Whoa, am I accepting that he’s my mate? I’ve always thought of him as a potential mate but not like this. I’m thinking of him doing this for the rest of our lives.

I think I want that.
