“I don’t think you need caffeine this morning feline,” I say. He’s already too hyped up.

Felix swivels, staring at me with wide eyes. “Was that a joke? Who are you? Anna said things went well yesterday and now this? I’m pretty sure I don’t know you.”

I roll my eyes. “Shut the fuck up. You’re a pain in my ass.”

“There he is.”

Blaze sits next to me with his cup before glancing at the stairs.

“Where is Anna?” Blaze asks.

Felix stiffens slightly before turning around and wagging his eyebrows. “She’s with Griff.”

The implication is clear, but why did he stiffen? Is he not as happy with this arrangement as he’s pretending to be?

That brings me a sick sense of joy.

Blaze grunts.

Felix claps his hands together once. “So, what’s the plan for today? We’ve been sidetracked by this ball, but we do need to keep working on finding Killian.”

I resist the urge to smack him. “Of course, we are still working on finding Killian. It’s called multitasking. I’ve put subtle feelers out about a weaver. There haven’t been any hits, but I don’t doubt we will get one soon. Outside of getting information out of Ryan, we still have no leads on Killian’s whereabouts.”

Blaze’s tension is palpable.

“He’s a sneaky bastard being able to stay under the radar like this. He must have help,” Felix says, taking a sip out of his cup that looks more like milk than coffee.

“The question is whether that help is voluntary or another captive,” Blaze says.

“He clearly doesn’t mind imprisoning people,” I say. “I’m going to go reach out to people.”

Felix walks over to the table and knocks his chair over. It makes a loud, obnoxious crashing sound. “No, stay. We need to talk about what’s next.”

I roll my eyes but stay seated. It’s not a bad idea.

Anna’s tinkling laughter breaks through the tension in the room. She comes into the kitchen with Griffyn practically glued to her. He’s got his arms around her stomach while he peppers her neck with kisses.

Anna looks up to find us all staring, a blush forming on her cheeks.

“Morning!” Griffyn says brightly with a shit-eating grin on his face.

Felix grabs a mug, quickly making Anna a coffee and bringing it to her. She thanks him with a peck on his cheek.

“Where’s my coffee?” Griffyn asks with a pout.

“Are you my mate?” Felix asks playfully, tugging Anna out of his arms.

They certainly seem comfortable together. I glance at Blaze, looking for an ally against their sweetness, but he’s watching them closely with a blank look on his face.

Griffyn finally leaves them to get his drink.

Anna and Felix are staring into each other’s eyes like they might start fucking right here in the middle of the kitchen.

So, I interrupt them before that can happen. “We were just discussing progress on finding Killian.”

Anna’s shoulders tense before she turns around to face us. Felix wraps himself around her from behind.

The satisfaction that I just stole her attention away from Felix floods my system. Annoyance and dislike aren’t pouring off her as much as usual when she looks at me.
