“Fuck!” I end the call and throw my cell across the room, smashing it against the wall. The empty room before me feels too small as if the walls are closing in on me. My men can’t arrive quickly enough, but it’ll be at least half an hour until they get here.

Leo walks through the doors, surprising me as I was sure he’d be last here. “Mia says she’s not in danger. She ran away to Texas.”

I want to punch my son. “I’ve just spoken to her and she said Alex Vishekov was there at the airport. He escorted her through security.”

Leo’s jaw clenches. “Shit.”

“Yeah, exactly.”

He runs a hand across the back of his neck. “I’m not okay with you fucking her, by the way.”

“You’re an adult and need to get over it.”

His eyes narrow. “You’re such a hypocrite. Luca tried, and you told him not to be disgusting. At least he wasn’t married to her mom.”

I start toward him, fists clenched. “She told himno, and Luca kept pushing,” I growl. “None of this matters because she’s in Vishekov’s hands right now. The same fuckers who murdered her mother.”

Leo takes a step back. “Do you think Ella is alive?”

The question pierces through my soul as if she’s not; they might as well end me now. I won’t be able to live with her death on my hands. “She’s better be, or I’ll kill every fucking Vishekov I can get my hands on until their blood paints the streets red.”

Leo nods in agreement. “Okay. What’s the plan?”

I lean over the table, bracing my hands on it. “I don’t know. Where the fuck are we going to start? They could have taken her anywhere.”

I feel like I’m spiraling out of control. Panic is something I’ve never really felt before.

Leo lays a reassuring hand on my shoulder. “We’ll find her,” he assures me.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. He’s right. We have to figure this out fast. I’m not letting Ella die, no matter what the cost is. If she’s in Vishekov’s hands, then they’re sure as hell in for a fight. I will sacrifice my life to get her back.

ELLA

The hard surface beneath me doesn’t give way as I roll over, groaning.

What the hell happened?

My head is pounding as I open my eyes and shut them instantly. The light assaults my irises, making me squint a little to adjust.

“Get the boss. She’s waking,” a voice says from nearby.

I swallow hard and try to focus on the people, but they’re just fuzzy figures. Trying to bring a hand to my head, I realize they’re tied together.

“What the fuck?” I murmur.

The door opens, and I blink a few times as a figure approaches me.

“Wake up, princess.”

“Alex?”

My vision clears and I see him smirking at me. “I’ve been waiting for a chance to take you since Remy pulled you out of the auction.”

And then I remember what happened. Alex took me from O’Hare airport. I’m his prisoner.

“Why?” I ask.
