Arianna announces, "I'm hungry. Actually, I'm starving. Are you hungry?"

My stomach growls. I nod. "Yea. I haven't eaten this morning."

"There's an awesome cafe down the street. Do you want to go?"

"Sure. That'd be great."

We make our way there, and I can't help but be conscious of the bodyguards' eyes on us at all times. I ask, "Do ya ever get used to this?"

She nods. "Yeah, but I have to tell you, I was raised in this family. My papà's had eyes on me for a long time, especially when I was getting in trouble."

"Ya got in trouble?" I question.

She grins. "Oh yeah. I dated all kinds of boys my father and brothers hated. I did anything to be bad for a while."

I laugh. I like Arianna. She's nice, and genuine too. Tynan was right. It will be nice to have a friend. I ask, "So Tynan said you're in town. Where do ya live?"

"Oh, we live in Chicago, but we come here often. We're going to be in New York for a while. Killian has some business to do." Her face falls.

"What's wrong?"

She shrugs. "Sometimes I worry about what they do."

I nod, but I've never really thought about it. I worry all the time about my da. I haven't really had time to worry about Tynan. He seems like he can take care of himself. I'm used to my da, who can't. Tynan seems like nobody could touch him.

"Oh, there it is," Arianna says, pointing across the street. We go to the light, and the walk sign appears. We cross the road and go inside the cafe.

It's bustling and smells delicious. The scents of coffee, melted cheese, and garlic fill the air.

"It smells good," I state.

Arianna nods. "It's one of my favorite places. I really do miss it. They don't have anything like it in Chicago."

The hostess gushes, "Arianna, it's been so long."

"Hey, Jillian."

"How long are you in town for?"

"At least a few weeks, if not a couple of months."

"Really? That's great," the woman says.

"Yeah, it's nice to be back. This is my new friend, Maeve."

"Hi," I say.

Jillian beams at me as well. "It's nice to meet you. And you're not from here either."

"That's correct. I'm from Ireland."

"Oh, what part?"

"Dublin. Well, I live in Belfast now."

"Nice. Right this way, ladies." She picks up two menus and leads us through the restaurant to a back corner table. "This good for you?"

"Perfect," Arianna answers, and we sit.
