"Then I am your prisoner?" I push.
He puts both hands on the table and leans toward me. In a firm voice, he threatens, "I'm not going to tell ya again. Ya need to get that phrase out of your vocabulary. Are we clear?"
Something tells me not to push him on it, so I take a sip of the tea and then another bite of the bread.
His phone vibrates on the table. He picks it up, stares at the screen, looks at me, then glances back at it again.
"What's wrong?" I question.
He puts his phone down, leans back in his chair, and pushes his fingertips together.
"What is it?"
His voice comes out flat. "My dad's plane just arrived."
My belly flips. "And?"
He rises and points to the food. "Eat up. We need to get you presentable."
"Presentable?"
He drops his underwear, and I gape at his erection. "Aye, I can't have my wife in ripped jeans and an old sweater to meet my dad, now can I?"
I stay quiet, unsure where to place my eyes as they dart across his muscular frame.
Arrogance washes over him. He leans down and murmurs in my ear, "Ya apparently like what ya see. Why don't ya stop playing games and join me in the shower?"
I push his torso as hard as possible.
He takes a step back and chuckles. "Eat up, princess. We have things to do."

I pull into Victoria Square and park in the VIP section. I ask, "What's your poison? Ted Baker? Michael Kors? Rio Brazil?"
Maeve rolls her eyes and chirps, "Yea, like I shop in those places."
"Why? What's wrong with them?"
She tilts her head. "Are ya that out of touch with reality?"
"What are ya talking about?" I ask, still confused.
"Have ya seen the prices of those places?"
I huff. "Please. You're married to me. I have more cash than you'll ever know what to do with. Money is no object."
She shakes her head.
"What's wrong now?"
"You're arrogant."
I shrug. "Tell me something I haven't heard before." I get out of the car and walk around to her door.
She opens it and gets out before I can reach in for her. She smirks. "Glad to know I don't need to worry about money anymore."
