He was also a known associate of the Janic crime family.

Bingo.

Kordo had to be involved in Rebecca’s kidnapping, and had likely targeted Billy Barnett because Billy had met with Novak and Mori.

If Teddy could find him, he was sure Kordo would lead him right to Rebecca.

He texted the picture and info to Mike Freeman and followed up with a call.

“Get the photo to your men at the set. I don’t think this guy will try to show up dressed as a security guard again, but I’m betting he’ll be in the area.”

“What do you want them to do if they find him?”

“Contact me right away, but do not engage. I don’t want him to know he’s been seen.”

“Consider it done.”

Kordo sat in his car down the street from the production trucks forStorm’s Eye. Filming had moved from yesterday’s downtown location to the exterior of a café a block from the beach.

Thanks to his encounter with that nosy jerk at the hotel last night, sneaking onto the set in his guard uniform was no longer an option.

He could work around that. All he needed to do was to find Barnett’s Porsche. Once he did, he would follow Barnett when he left, and deal with the producer someplace quieter.

A woman approached his car and started to put a piece of paper under his windshield wiper.

He tapped the glass and scowled, causing her to jump and grab her chest. “Sorry, I didn’t see you.”

When he didn’t respond, she motioned for him to open his window. Kordo waved for her to move on, but she remained where she was.

With a roll of his eyes, he lowered the window halfway. “What?”

She held out the piece of paper. “We’re looking for a friend of ours who’s gone missing. Maybe you’ve seen him?”

“I haven’t. Sorry.”

“You didn’t even look at his picture.”

Hoping it would make her go away, he snatched the flyer and glanced at it. He shook his head. “Like I said, I do not know him.”

When he tried to give the flyer back, the woman took a step away.

“Keep it. Maybe you’ll see him later. If you do, call the number. Thanks.”

As she hurried to the next parked car, Kordo crumpled the flyer and tossed it into the back seat.

Daniel Rivera was Mike Freeman’s top security man at the West Coast offices of Strategic Services. That waswhy he was now in charge of security on the set ofStorm’s Eye.

Not only did he have everyone on high alert, but he and several of his people were roaming the area around the shoot, keeping an eye out for Kordo.

Rivera was starting to think the guy wasn’t going to show up when his radio hissed to life. “Kwon for Rivera.”

“Go for Rivera.”

“I’ve got eyes on a man sitting in a car, a block and a half from the north end of the set. He fits the description.”
