“Well, I can’t now! My dick is in my throat. Fuck Mercy.” I shake my head at him as I go to inspect what he’s done to me.

“You’ll get no fucking Mercy from me, asshole. I’m not a dog you can micro chip.” I hiss at him.

“When you stop running away like a little bitch, then maybe I’ll remove it. Until then, tough shit. Your ass is mine. Now and always.” I turn to him and cross my arms over my chest.

“Nothing says love like low jacking, your bitch.”

Fucking bikers.

“You’re still here.” Spark nestles into my neck and kisses right under the tracker that still stings.

I ignore him since I’m still mad as hell.

“I’ve been having nightmares since you left. It’s like I’m waking up from a dream, and you’re here, and then you leave again. Over and over. I can’t remember the last time I got a full night’s rest.” I turn to face him, and he cups my face gently.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper before I kiss him.

“For leaving?” I shake my head.

“For the sleepless nights. I know that sucks. I had to go alone. It was the only way.” I sigh, knowing I’ve put off this conversation as long as I can.

I sit up and put my hair behind my ears.

We fell asleep, and I didn’t even brush it. It must look like a hot mess. I clear my throat, ready to get it over with.

“I got in contact with an old friend of Joaquin’s. He was the only other person on the visitor list at the prison beside Gabriel. I need to know the last time they spoke. I used to get handwritten letters from him every week. Then they switched to typed ones because he ‘hurt his hand lifting.’ Then they stopped altogether.” I look up at the ceiling, trying not to cry yet again.

“I was so stupid. I should have noticed the difference immediately. I went from beginning his Reina to Mercy. He never called me that.” Tears fall down my face, and I look over at Spark.

“How long, lass?” I frown and look at my hands in my lap.

“Less than a year into his sentence. I’ve been a widow for over three years and had no fucking idea. What kind of a wife am I?” I sob in earnest now.

He engulfs me in his arms and rocks me gently.

“I just need a location. Let me do this for you.” I shake my head.

“No, he’s mine.” I sound fierce and determined.

“Together.”

“Tellme again how meeting your sister is going to flush out Gabriel?” I tap my fingers on the steering wheel, thinking over the information she dumped on me.

“Lexy is married to Gabriel.” I nod.

“I’m going to need a flow chart.” I rub my head and sigh.

“It’s really not that complicated. We married brothers. You act like that’s abnormal.” Mercy crosses her arms defensively.

“When they’re involved in human trafficking, it’s a big fucking problem.” She bristles at my statement,

“Joaquin was never into any of that. We just ran the races and boasted cars. He despised the skin trade shit.” Before I can say anything else on the matter, a black sedan pulls up to the curb.
