The door opens, and just like Abel said, two armed guards point guns at me.

“Name?” Is this fucker serious?

“Are you expecting the Queen of motherfucking England? Did you maybe invite more people to this kidnapping?” I storm past him and start screaming.

“Lilith! Where is my family, you bible-thumping whore!” Someone grabs my arm, and I throw a punch.

“FUCK!” Spark says when my fist connects with his nose.

AGAIN.

“When are you going to stop grabbing her when she’s like this?” Wolf asks over the comms, but I tune him out.

At the top of the stairs is my evil stepmother.

“Darling, why are you being so uncouth?” I laugh and look around.

“Oh, I’m just getting started. You can save yourself the headache and just give me my family back.” I cross my arms on my chest and grab the gun in the holster next to my left breast.

Her security may have frisked Spark while I wasn’t looking, but they didn’t bother with me. Which was what we were hoping for.

“No need to be unpleasant. I appreciate you being on time. I am a busy woman. Have you made a decision?” This bitch really is nuts.

“I don’t see either of them here. How do I know you have them? The reward for Lucy doubles at midnight, and Porscha could be nice and warm in her bed.” I shrug at her.

“Edward, please escort my daughter to our guest.” I bristle.

“STEPDAUGHTER,” I hiss but follow the guy she was speaking to.

She reaches the bottom of the stairs as we pass and takes her place at the head of the line into the back of the mansion.

“Waiting for a visual of the situation before killing the power.” Glitch comes over the comms, and I bite my lip to stop from nodding at her voice.

“He stays here.” Lilith orders, and I glance at Spark.

He nods at me.

“Plan B, move into position.” Abel had backups for backups, so we expected to be separated.

Lilith enters the room ahead of me, and I follow slowly. One guard also comes in, leaving Spark with the other. I look around the room, confused.

“I’m not in the mode for tricks, Lilith. Where are Porscha and Lucy?” My stepmother sighs and pushes a button on the wall.

The wall to my right starts to open, and I see Porscha, first unconscious, hanging from the ceiling by her wrist. Lucy is to her right on a bed, tied down but awake. She struggles when she sees me.

“Why are you doing this to us? What can we possibly have that you need or want? Haven’t you taken enough? Made us suffer for what? Your own amusement?” I ask her, truly wanting to know the reason why I’ve been living a lie in misery for the last five years.

“Love, my dear. All I’ve ever wanted was unconditional love. Your father put you, girls, before everything else. Even his wife. No matter how much I tried, I could never compete, so then I decided a child would fill that void. Alas, I’m barren. All I have now is being a grandmother, but you stole that from me as well. If I can’t have it, then you can’t either.” And people say I’m crazy?

“You could have adopted! Why steal my child?” Her perfect persona slips when she rolls her eyes.

“In the hopes that those beautiful De Jesus brothers would get themselves killed and Lucy would inherit everything.” I glance at my baby and back at Lilith.

“Inherit what? Joaquin is broke, and Gabriel never worked a day in his life! Lucy could never take over the club, so that money stays with them.” Her eyes widen at me, and she starts laughing.

“He never told you? Well, I guess it wasn’t true love.” Enough of this bullshit.

“What the fuck are you talking about, Lilith?” I step forward, inching my way closer to her and Porscha, and hide my relief when I see her chest moving.
