“In position,” Abel says in my ear, and I look at Lucy, then the window by the bed she’s strapped to.

“Mommy’s here, sweet girl. Just lay down and close your eyes. Cover your eyes and try to sleep. It’ll all be over soon.” I nod at her scared face.

“You really are clueless. Honey, that little girl is an heiress.” I turn, looking at her in bewilderment.

“Heiress? To what, Hell? You have lost your damn mind.” One glance at Spark through the open door tells me it’s go time.

“Tell me, please, since I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I turn my back to her and pull my gun.

Glass shatters, and Lucy screams.

Popping sounds drop the guards as I press my gun to the back of Lilith’s head, who turned at the sound of her men dying.

“No, please. Do continue. Tell me why you have made us suffer over a fortune we knew nothing about so we could never claim. If you knew about it, why didn’t you take it? How is Lucy entitled to it?” I get louder the more I speak.

“Come here, lass. Daddy’s got you.” I hear Lucy sob as Issac speaks to her, but I don’t take my eyes off Lilith.

“Don’t you think I tried! I could produce them an heir.” My stepmother drops to her knees and cries.

“Issac, take her out of her. I’ll get Porscha.” He reluctantly leaves the room as I see the rest of the club outside the door.

He hands Lucy to his dad and turns to me, but I shake my head. I need to do this alone.

“Enough your head games. If you have something to say, you best say it now.” Lilith laughs between sobs and presses her hands together as if in prayer.

“Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name,” I snort.

“Last rites only work when you have confessed your sins. I’m still waiting.” She talks over me.

“Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” I shot into the floor by her knee, and she yelps.

“Amen. Now get on with it.” I yell into her ear.

“You really are horrible at everything you do. You can’t even kill me at point-blank range.” This bitch.

“Darling, you haven’t seen me try to kill you yet.” I press the hot barrel to the back of her head again, and she hisses.

“Now tell me, in detail, what exactly I got wrong!” I’m out of patience, and I think she knows it.

“Mercedes?” Porscha croaks behind me.

“Hang on, baby sis, we’re getting you down.” Spark rushes into the room as soon as I look at him.

“Are you going to kill her?” She says as she limps past us with his help.

“She’s already dead, and she knows it.”

CHAPTERTWENTY-TWO

SPARK

Mercy putsa bullet in Lilith’s shoulder, and the woman bellows.

“I don’t hear you talking. I thought you had something to teach me. On accounts that I’m stupid and useless. I’m all fucking ears!” Mercy’s voice carries through the house as I help her sister onto a couch where Shock is waiting to check her over.

“Dr. Espinosa is very cool. I bet he’ll be happy you’re okay.” She’s talking to Lucy about the doctor who took care of her.

“You know him?” She nods.
