“Why do you have to go for the toxic ones?” He sighs as he turns to Hopper.

“Wheels up?” He looks excited like he always does when he gets to fly.

“Miami, let’s roll.” I run up to my room and grab my go bag before changing.

“Chase on, little mouse.”

“Glitch, where the fuck is she?” I sit outside the address she found for her sister in Daytona.

It’s hotter than the Devil’s balls outside, and I’m sweating like a fucking pig. It’s been hours, and the truck she’s been tracking dropped her off a mile away an hour ago.

“She’s buying a coffee. One block west.” I grunt at her before I hang up.

I jog the short distance and sneak up behind her in line.

“Miss me?” I whisper in her ear.

I’ll give her credit. She doesn’t even jump.

“Next customer!” The young woman behind the counter calls out.

“Dos cafes Cuban,” I order and slap a twenty over Mercy’s shoulder as I pull her ass into my groin with my other hand.

She’s caged in with my body surrounding her. I grin at the shiver that I feel run up her back.

“You speak Spanish?” She gasps as I grind my erection into her ass.

“One of my dads is Puerto Rican.” She turns her head over her shoulder to look at me.

“One?” I smirk as I take the coffee without letting her go.

“You got your one question, Mercy. Now you’re going to answer mine.” I make her sit in a booth and trap her in so she can’t run from me.

“No,” she licks her lips, looking around.

“I don’t like that word,” I growl as I pass her a coffee.

“No shit? I couldn’t tell.” She rolls her eyes before taking a sip of the coffee.

“Why the fuck am I back in Florida?” She slams the cup down in annoyance.

“Because you don’t like to hear the word no. I thought we covered that already. Listen, you got your shit back, right?” I nod.

“Good, our business is done. Go home and forget you ever met me.” She pushes on my body but can’t budge me.

“Not fucking possible, Little Mouse.” I run my thumb over her bottom lip.

“Don’t touch me.” She sighs but closes her eyes like she wishes I’d do the opposite.

“Why?” I need her to admit it so I can break the news.

I’m not sure if she’s still attached to her husband or not. Just because they’re still legally married doesn’t mean that they want to be.

“I’m married, Spark. Stop disrespecting me.” I drop my hand away from her face.

“You aren’t.” I sip the coffee, letting my last words sink in.
